    Part-Time Trainers in Nautical Science

    Qualification

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nautical Science, Marine Navigation, or related field.
    • Certificate of Competency (CoC) as an Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (STCW II/1), Master Mariner or Chief Mate (STCW II/2).
    • Minimum of 2-3 years’ sea service and prior teaching or training experience in a maritime institution is highly desirable
    • Familiarity with IMO Model Courses and STCW requirements

    Key responsibilities also include

    Duties and responsibilities;

    • Teach courses in navigation, ship stability, meteorology, cargo handling, and maritime law.
    • Deliver practical training in bridge simulation, chart work, and voyage planning.
    • Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with IMO STCW standards.
    • Mentor and guide cadets in academic and professional development.
    • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
    • Support students in preparation for certification exams and onboard training.
    • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the nautical science curriculum.
    • Integrate emerging technologies and industry practices into training modules.
    • Ensure training programs meet national and international maritime education standards.
    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments.
    • Work closely with other trainers, academic staff, and industry partners.
    • Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and professional development activities.

    Part-Time Trainers in Maritime Transport and Logistics

    Qualification

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in, Maritime Transport and Logistics, or its equivalent in a relevant field.
    • Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized university is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 2-3 years’ sea service and prior teaching or training experience in a maritime institution is highly desirable
    • Proficiency in computer applications
    • Registered member of a relevant professional body in good standing will be an added advantage

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
    • Certified trainer with relevant maritime security credentials (e.g., STCW, ISPS, IMO certifications)
    • Strong knowledge of international maritime law and security protocols
    • Minimum of 2-3 years’ sea service and prior teaching or training experience in a maritime institution is highly desirable
    • Registered member of a relevant professional body in good standing will be an added advantage

    Key responsibilities also include

    Duties and responsibilities;

    • Develop and deliver maritime security training courses in line with ISPS Code and STCW requirements.
    • Design comprehensive maritime security training modules.
    • Conduct classroom and field-based instruction on ISPS Code compliance, Port facility security, Shipboard security operations, counter-piracy and anti-terrorism tactics, risk assessment, emergency response and risk mitigation among others.
    • Evaluate trainee performance and provide constructive feedback
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of maritime security trends, threats, and best practices
    • Assist in curriculum development and continuous improvement of training materials
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to tailor training to specific operational needs

    Part-Time Trainers in Maritime Safety

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
    • Prior training experience
    • Certified trainer with relevant maritime safety qualifications (e.g., STCW, IMO Model Courses)
    • Strong knowledge of international maritime safety regulations and standards
    • Minimum of 2-3 years’ sea service and prior teaching or training experience in a maritime institution is highly desirable

    • Conduct classroom and practical training sessions using modern instructional techniques
    • Evaluate trainee performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement
    • Maintain and update training materials in line with regulatory changes and industry best practices
    • Support audits and inspections related to safety training and compliance

    Part-Time Trainers in Marine Engineering

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Marine Engineering or related field.
    • Certificate of Competency (CoC) as Marine Engineer Officer (STCW III/2 or III/3).
    • Minimum of 2-3 years’ sea service and prior teaching or training experience in a maritime institution is highly desirable

    • Valid ECDIS certification and experience with ARPA & RADAR systems.
