    Head of Underwriting, Research, Development & Products - Health

    To drive innovative strategic partnerships around product development aimed at profitable growth of the health business, ensuring that set underwriting rules are adhered, products’ experience is continually monitored to maintain a competitive edge in the market and progressively improve predictive analytics capabilities to ensure significant forward-looking view of the business.

    Underwriting

    • Overseeing underwriting, debiting, membership management and key operational processes affecting the corporate and retail portfolio.
    • Determine acceptability of risks, monitor and review terms of accounts.
    • Ensure timely and accurate debiting of premium and endorsement of cover conditions.
    • Oversee preparation of renewal notices and timely dispatch.
    • Prepare underwriting reports and statistics for management review.
    • Review of risk assessment and rating systems, procedures to make recommendations for improvement.
    • Continually monitor clients claims experience/ benefit utilization and recommend underwriting action.
    • Conduct quarterly audits of underwriting guidelines and ensure it is up to date
    • Maintain effective business relationships to ensure effective delivery of service
    • Monitor service standards within the section to ensure high quality customer service is delivered and ensure adherence to set TATs.
    • Supervise, train and mentor staff on technical matters.

    Research & Development

    • Delivering innovative strategic partnerships that will positively impact the business by improving insurance penetration and ensuring profitable business growth.
    • Prepare analytical performance reports for the business.
    • Leverage on healthcare technology integration to promote preventive care and monitor health
    • Leverage on data to assess risks and develop personalized insurance plans to maintain leadership in product innovation
    • Lead the business in identifying and rolling out new innovations in healthcare and health insurance space

    Products

    • Product Development and Product Ownership- involved in end-to-end analysis, development and seeking both internal and regulatory approval for new and revamped retail, corporate and bancassurance products.
    • Carrying out regular risk assessments for new and revamped products.
    • Custodian of product artefacts including policy documents, brochures and forms while overseeing any required changes and improvements
    • Monitoring product performance and apply interventions as and when required
    • Support in digitization of products.

    Qualifications &Experience

    Business Growth & Development Manager-Meru (Faulu MFB)

    The job holder is expected to aggressively drive the branch growth and profitability targets by identifying, developing and maintaining profitable relationships with customers

    KEY MEASURABLE GOALS

    • Growth of the branch liability book
    • Growth of the Branch asset book in all the segments
    • Growth of the banc assurance portfolio
    • Growth of the branch customer base and sign ups of digital customers
    • Ensure portfolio quality.
    • Ensure branch profitability.

    • Achievement of branch business targets

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop business strategic plans that provide clear direction on the business objectives for the region assigned
    •  Ensure SMART target setting, monitoring and timely submission of both target documents &appraisal documents within set timelines in the allocated region.
    • Lead business growth and development of the branch, agencies and other alternative service outlets attached to the branch
    • Manage and lead the branch team in achieving/ surpassing the set business targets
    • Provide superior level of customer relationship management and promote the sales and service culture through coaching, guidance and staff motivation;
    • Drive sales of all products and services at branch level through offering leadership and motivation to the sales team, sales drives , liaison with key relationships among others ;
    • Offer leadership to managers and staff in the region assigned in a manner that promotes motivation, efficiency, mentoring and to ensure high levels of discipline.
    • Development of a high performing team at branch level through training , mentorship, and special assignments
    • Monitor and ensure 100% compliance to all the company policies, processes, procedures and other controls
    • Lead in optimal utilization of people, financial and technical resources within the branch
    • Chair the Branch Credit Committee and ensure compliance to Credit policy & procedures
    • Budget planning and cost management ; Continuous evaluation of branch financial performance against budgets and taking remedial actions where necessary
    • Promotion of Faulu’s brand visibility and image: Being the Key liaison point with the community, participate in community affairs to increase the company's visibility and to enhance new and existing business opportunities
    • Offer leadership to managers and staff in the region assigned in a manner that promotes motivation, efficiency, mentoring and to ensure high levels of discipline
    • Initiate, nurture and ensure profitable business relationship and Partnerships with the customers, community and government structures
    • Communicating and reinforcing the AML-CTF compliance culture established by the board
    • Implementing and enforcing the board-approved AML, KYC & CFT policy within the region and Branch
    • Any other role allocated by the supervisor
