Job Summary

Management of Electrical supply and distribution, switchgear, and control systems involving maintenance, technical inspection, acceptance testing/handover, and third party service supervision, spares requirement assessment, pre-purchase technical appraisal, and annual equipment replacement plan

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preparation and updating of Electrical drawings during ongoing remodeling and renovations
• Provide technical support for electrical systems and equipment throughout the including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance;
• Provide specific advisory/attendance to consultants and procurement teams on new applicable trends and compatibility of systems.
• Promptly respond to system/equipment Breakdown Maintenance Liaison between AKU and service/maintenance contractors/teams
• Timely completion of Preventive Maintenance (PPM) for electrical system/equipment
• Liaison with user Departments for maintenance activities and report to supervisor on issues arising.
• Participate in electrical quality assurance and Control audits.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

1. Diploma in Electrical engineering or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
2. Must be computer literate and well versed in MS packages (word, excel, PowerPoint, projects, AutoCAD, outlook, internet)
3. At least two years of experience in a construction company with a similar position.
4. “O” level certificate with a minimum of “C” grade or equivalent
5. Competent in technical operation and maintenance of HV/LV distribution, switchgear and controls, Diesel generators, steam boilers
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, high integrity and reliability;
7. Very good analytical and organizational skills.
8. Ability to overcome performance barriers.

10. Ability to work long hours with minimal supervision has initiative, and is proactive
11. Capacity to manage several tasks and requests simultaneously
12. Good grooming and self-presentation

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carrying out all works within mechanical workshop maintenance and repair of all equipment associated within the power plant and within the workshop.
• Under the direction of Mechanical Engineer perform assigned products manufacturing and assembly tasks, maintenance on mechanical systems, components and structural facilities to ensure the safety and efficiency of all mechanical equipment associated with the plant.
• Troubleshoot, inspect and work on a variety of plant equipment.
• Ensure all work activities are carried out in compliance with the site Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and all legislative obligations.
• Responsible for work activities with contractors on site ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a mechanical discipline is required
• Minimum of three years’ experience as dedicated machinist in Workshop machine operations is required
• Excellent machine skills including use of lathes, mills, drills is required
• Knowledge of reading mechanical drawings, general arrangement drawings and technical drawings.
• Hands-on experience within industrial mechanical maintenance preferred.
• Good knowledge of power plant equipment and technology, boiler, turbine, fuel handling and balance of plant preferred.
• Good knowledge of working with Safe System of Work and permit to work system.
• Must be able to fault find and rectify problems on mechanical equipment
• Good communication & writing skills in English
