This is a senior position in the company. He/She will be reporting to the Technical Manager for day-to-day operations and will be attached to the Technical Department.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day technical functions of SHL as assistant manager.
- Provide technical support to field teams across all SHL-managed utilities.
- Run and manage Wandiege Water Supply and Sanitation Company as a Utility Manager.
- Plan and implement strategies to improve water supply performance.
- Ensure reduction of non-revenue water (NRW).
- Support utility asset management within our jurisdiction.
- Supervise and provide on-the-job training to staff within SHL Utilities.
- Assist Utilities in preparing performance improvement plans, funding proposals, and annual budgets.
- Help Utilities develop and execute strategies to improve revenue collection for sustainability.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Water Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
- At least three (3) years of relevant post-qualification working experience in a busy water institution.
- Must be computer literate, a good team player, and willing to embrace incentive-driven performance contracting.
- Willingness to work in the field.
- Willingness to be transferred to other SANAR Rural Utilities if needed.

The incumbent will be responsible for the finance and commercial functions of the company and will report to the Finance Manager. He/She will be in charge of all procurement and administrative functions of the enterprise.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Updating QuickBooks and reviewing postings.
- Reconciling donor reports with QuickBooks ledgers.
- Reconciling accounts payable (creditors) ledger with suppliers' statement of accounts and following up on areas of discrepancy.
- Producing imprest accounts statements and sharing them with relevant staff. Reviewing and updating accounts accordingly and producing the final imprest account balance.
- Reviewing payment voucher documents to ensure proper attachment of supporting documents.
- Producing trial balances for audits.
- Providing financial advisory/support services to utilities under professional management.
- Supporting the production of business plans for utilities.
- Undertaking field staff capacity building on financial matters.
- Producing periodic financial and accounting reports.
- Producing bank and cash reconciliation reports on a regular basis.
Minimum Requirements
- A B.Com (Finance Option), BBA, Entrepreneurship, or equivalent; those with a Master's degree will have an added advantage.
- CPA 2.
- At least three (3) years of relevant post-qualification working experience in a water utility company.
- Conversant with water sector reforms, computer literate, and a good team player with interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of QuickBooks or Sage Pastel is mandatory.
- Must be willing to embrace incentive-driven performance contracting.

The incumbent will be responsible for the accounts functions of the company and will report to the Finance Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparing accounts and entries in QuickBooks.
- Assisting procurement in preparing requisition books and payment vouchers.
- Raising receipts and writing payment vouchers, ensuring they are fully signed, and entering the same into QuickBooks or relevant accounting software/ledgers.
- Book and record-keeping in the accounts department.
- Filing of accounting documents.
- Performing bank reconciliations.
- Banking of cheques.
- Preparing financial reports on a daily basis or periodically.
- Assisting the Finance Manager with the day-to-day functions of the department, including administrative functions.
- Performing other tasks as may be assigned by any authorized supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma in Accounts.
- CPA 1 and/or B.Com (Accounting Option) is an added advantage.
- At least three (3) years of relevant post-qualification working experience in a busy firm.
- Conversant with water sector reforms, computer literate, and a good team player with interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of QuickBooks or Sage Pastel is mandatory.

Under minimum supervision, operates, maintains, and performs preventative maintenance on water supply pumps; performs scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures, ensuring all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly installed and include the following:
- Switch on and switch off the pump to supply water to the system.
- Ensure that the pump, pump house, and water systems are functional.
- Report to the manager on requirements for operation and maintenance (O&M).
- Adjust controls and/or valves on equipment to provide power, regulate, and set operations of the system.
- Record daily master meter readings (in the morning and evening).
- Record power consumption on a daily basis.
- Inspect meters for authorized connections, defects, and damages such as broken seals.
- Report any problems, such as meter irregularities, damaged equipment, or impediments to meter access, including gated houses.
- Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded.
- Prepare orders for supplies and ensure minimum stocks of materials to fix minor leakages and bursts.
- Ensure meter reading is done by the 25th of every month and forwarded to the revenue clerk/WSO by the 27th of every month.
- Ensure leakages and bursts are attended to without delay.
- Ensure disconnections are done within a day of receiving a report from management.
- Inspect meters and connections within a day after receiving a report from the utility management.
- Line Patrolling
- Undertake any other duty as may be assigned.

- Certificate in Plumbing and Pump Operations.
- Diploma in Water Technology will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar job.
