    Mental Health Officers- Mombasa

    Key Responsibilities

    Project Design & Start-Up

    • Support partners to assess and map referral resources (mental health, GBV, etc.).
    • Integrate IPT-G primary and secondary indicators into existing partner M&E systems.
    • Review and strengthen project indicators to measure IPT-G impact.
    • Facilitate curriculum adaptation workshops to culturally tailor IPT-G materials.
    • Conduct capacity assessments of facilitator trainees and supervisors.
    • Develop detailed work plans for IPT-G cycles.
    • Deliver in-person and/or virtual training on IPT-G programming management.
    • Develop supervision and follow-up frameworks in collaboration with partners.

    Expected Impact:
    Clear referral pathways, integrated M&E systems, culturally adapted materials, trained facilitators, and structured implementation plans in place before cycle rollout.

    Training & Capacity Building

    • Prepare and conduct core IPT-G facilitator trainings.
    • Orient partner management teams on IPT-G, depression screening, and community sensitization.
    • Submit timely, high-quality training reports (within 14 days of training).

    Partners equipped with technical skills to independently implement and supervise IPT-G interventions.]

    Community Mental Health Programming (IPT-G Cycle Delivery)

    • Support implementation of IPT-G cycles including community mobilization, screening, and weekly sessions.
    • Provide weekly coaching, mentoring, and debriefing sessions to facilitators.
    • Coordinate self-care sessions for facilitators.
    • Conduct quality assurance checks and recalibration meetings at the end of each cycle.
    • Ensure accurate data collection for reach, outcomes, and impact analysis.
    • Prepare and submit cycle reports within 14 days after completion.

    Expected Impact:
    High-quality IPT-G cycles delivered, measurable client outcomes achieved, and continuous improvement embedded in implementation.

    Communication, Learning & Global Collaboration

    • Coordinate bi-weekly meetings with partners and StrongMinds teams.
    • Hold weekly supervision meetings with the Global Partnerships Coordinator.
    • Document and share learnings, recommendations, and scaling insights.
    • Engage with technical teams across Global, Uganda, and Zambia offices for support.
    • Prepare weekly, monthly, and end-of-cycle reports.

    Expected Impact:
    Documented lessons learned, strengthened global scaling strategies, and transparent reporting systems.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Community Psychology, Counselling, or related field.
    • Background training and implementation experience in IPT-G is an added advantage.

    Required Experience & Competencies

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in program management (experience in global collaborations preferred).
    • Experience in mental health interventions, training, and mentorship.
    • Demonstrated ability to design and implement reporting systems.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
    • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

    Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Assistant

    The ME&R Assistant contributes to strengthening accountability, data integrity, and continuous learning within global partnerships under StrongMinds.

    Key Responsibilities

    Support Implementation of M&E & Reporting Workplans

    • Track client recruitment and participation data across partner programs.
    • Maintain and update client databases (pre-assessment, pre-group, midline, termination).
    • Prepare routine data summaries and progress tracking tools.
    • Identify and flag data gaps, inconsistencies, and emerging risks to the supervisor.

    Expected Results:

    • Updated and complete client databases.
    • Routine data summaries available for review.
    • Data gaps and risks documented and communicated in a timely manner.Support Partner & EPO Coordination on M&E
    • Conduct routine follow-ups with EPOs and partner staff to ensure timely data submission and uploads.
    • Review weekly and monthly partner reports to identify gaps or inconsistencies.
    • Organize feedback sessions and document action points from review meetings.
    • Contribute to recommendations to management to improve processes and systems.

    Support Data Quality Assurance & Routine Monitoring

    • Conduct virtual file audits and verification exercises on sampled client records.

    • Escalate identified issues appropriately.

    4. Support Reporting & Documentation

    • Assist in preparing monthly and cycle-level progress reports.

    • Maintain organized reporting folders for internal and donor use.

    Support Digitalization & Data System Management

    • Assist in setting up and maintaining KoboToolbox accounts and digital tools for partners and EPOs.
    • Provide hands-on support to partners in using electronic data collection systems.
    • Monitor real-time data entry to identify inconsistencies or gaps.
    • Support data cleaning and verification processes.
    • Flag urgent system or data issues for timely resolution.

    • Effective use of digital tools by partners and EPOs.
    • Accurate, complete, and timely data collection.
    • Smooth-running digital M&E systems supporting program efficiency.

    Support Capacity Building & Learning

    • Prepare M&E and reporting training materials.
    • Organize virtual or in-person trainings, coaching, and mentorship sessions.
    • Document training attendance, feedback, and follow-up actions.

    • Training materials and attendance records available.
    • Documented capacity-building activities.
    • Improved partner understanding of M&E processes.

    Other Duties

    • Undertake additional M&E and reporting support tasks as assigned by the supervisor in line with Global Partnerships objectives and scaling agenda.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, Economics, Population Studies, or related field.
    • Training or coursework in Monitoring & Evaluation is an added advantage.
    • Experience with community-based or mental health programs (including IPT-G) is an added advantage.

    Required Experience & Competencies

    • 1–2 years’ experience supporting M&E or reporting activities.
    • Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, PowerPoint, and Canva.
    • Proficiency in STATA.
    • Familiarity with electronic data collection tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, CommCare).
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
