    Senior Associate, Integrated Climate Action

    What you will do:
    Technical and research activities (60%)

    • Conduct research on the barriers and enabling conditions for integrated climate action in selected cities in Africa, Europe, Latin America, China and India
    • Conduct research on policy instruments to integrate climate action in strategic city processes (including but not limited to strategic planning, land use and spatial planning and monitoring and evaluation frameworks for climate action)
    • Develop a research strategy on multi-level governance for integrated climate action
    • Provide technical assistance for policy design and implementation of priority actions, integrated delivery climate roadmaps and/or innovative financing instruments.

    Project management activities (20%)

    • Supervise the work of consultants and subcontractors
    • Develop and coordinate WRI Ross Center Learning Strategy on Integrated Climate Action.

    Coalition building and stakeholder engagement (20%)

    • Map critical non-government stakeholders for multi-level climate action in priority countries for WRI
    • Develop policy recommendations and main messages for advocacy on multi-level climate action in different sectors (e.g. energy, transports, waste, water and urban planning) at national and global level
    • Develop case studies to support and inform policy dialogues with non-governmental stakeholders on climate finance, equity and managing political change for climate action.

    What you will need:

    • Education: You have a completed Master’s Degree in urban and regional planning, urban economics environmental studies or other related fields
    • Experience: You have 7+ years of progressive experience working with climate research within NGOs, research centers or international organizations
    • Experience working on projects related to climate mitigation and adaptation in urban contexts
    • Experience working in a multicultural environment in Asia, Africa, or Latin America
    • Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary research projects with stakeholders and partners in global organizations
    • Experience in developing qualitative and quantitative research on climate, urban planning, urban economics, or related fields
    • Experience producing and writing case studies, research reports, policy recommendations on climate, urban planning, public policy or related fields.

    Languages: You have verbal and written proficiency in English. Proficiency in another language is desirable.

    Requirements: Existing work authorization in your selected location is required. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization.

    Finance Manager, Operations

    What will you do:

    Accounting (35%):

    • Ensure accounting and financial transactions are well supported before being processed in Cost Point accounting system
    • Prepare bank reconciliations
    • Process financial transactions in Cost Point. Work closely with programs staff, operations staff and accounting team from the global office to ensure transactions have the right charge and accounting codes
    • Responsible for processing advance to staff and vendors
    • Responsible for managing advances and receivables from staff
    • Responsible for managing credit card issued to staff. Ensure expenses are reported on time and reconciliations prepared

    Budgeting and Financial Management (40%):

    • Work closely with the programs and business development team to prepare budgets for new proposals
    • Update budgets and forecasts in the system for existing projects, core bilateral and indirect funds
    • Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis to determine the financial health of the projects, core bilateral funding and indirect spending
    • Responsible for preparing the necessary JEs to make corrections to wrongly coded expenses
    • Work closely with program and core staff to ensure timesheets are submitted on a timely basis
    • Responsible for reviewing monthly labor reports, providing timesheet guidance and making the necessary adjustments
    • Responsible for preparing payments for approval by the Director of Finance & Operations

    Payments Processing (15%):

    • Responsible for payments processing to vendors both in Kenya and across the Africa region where WRI operates
    • Work closely with the program staff on processing of mobile money to participants
    • Responsible for reconciliation of mobile money GL account

    Payroll Management (10%):

    • Responsible for preparing monthly payroll
    • Responsible for submission of statutory deductions and related returns. Ensure the statutory deductions are calculated accurately and submitted on time to the various statutory bodies
    • Support payroll processing for countries without a dedicated finance personnel
    • Work with accounting team to ensure timely processing of payroll
    • Responsible for sending pay slips to staff
    • Responsible for sending annual P9A to staff

    What will you need:

    • Education: You have a completed Bachelor's Degree in Business administration, Finance or Accounting
    • Professional Qualification: You must be a CPA Finalist
    • Experience: You have a minimum of 6+ years full-time relevant work experience in Finance Department with an International NGO
    • You must have experience working with donor funded projects
    • You have high-level competence in budgeting, financial analysis and forecasting. Experience preparing dashboards will be an added advantage
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software such as SAP, Deltek, Sage, Costpoint etc
    • Experience working in different Africa countries would be an advantage
    • Languages: You are proficient in written and spoken English
    • Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position will be based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work and work permit
