  • It is not possible to talk about First Assurance Co Ltd without giving a brief background of its predecessor – The Prudential Assurance Company PLC A British Multinational Insurance Company.

    The Prudential Assurance Company Limited, the parent Company of Prudential Assurance Company of Kenya Limited, commenced active business operations in East Africa in 1930.

    The Company’s early years of operation were mainly on Life Assurance Business and the General Insurance Branch was merely set up to cater for the General Insurance Business of Life Policy Holders. This trend changed in 1953 when a full General Insurance Branch status was given to East Africa.

    Branch Managers - 2 positions

     

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • To lead a Retail branch in driving and delivering exceptional business performance, through the provision of excellent sales and service management, influential leadership, team development and achievement of operational excellence.

    QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor Degree in Commerce, -degree in (Field) (NQF level no.6)
    • 2 years managerial experience in managing a branch / business area
    • 5 years working experience in a Retail / Banking environment
    • 2-5 years sales experience

    Underwriters Medical Division - 2 positions

     

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Preparation of loss ratio and utility reports
    • Pricing for new and existing schemes
    • Ensuring renewal notices with appropriate terms are sent 60 days to renewal
    • Scheme management-ensuring cards, debit and credit notes are issued within stipulated TAT
    • Policy document issuance within stipulated TAT
    • Ensuring schemes are set up with correct benefit structures
    • Scheme performance monitoring and implementing corrective measures
    • Member education of scheme members

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • BSc Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, BComm
    • Progress in Actuarial or Chartered Insurance Institute examinations
    • At least one year experience in a busy medical department

    General Business Underwriters - 2 positions

     

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assess and rate  risks proposed as the set guidelines Analyse and accept or reject risk
    • Attend to customers and intermediaries questions
    • Reconciliation of clients accounts department.
    • Follow up on renewals
    • Processing policy documents for the new businesses
    • Invite and dispatch renewal notices
    • Issue endorsements. i.e renewal, additions and deletions.
    • Issue quotations
    • Issue motor certificates, marine certificates and yellow cards
    • Visiting clients and intermediaries each month,
    • Process  ratio reports and review accounts performance
    • Signing policy documents and new business upto a limit of ksh 10 million
    • Train and mentor new staff
    • Assist claims department by providing the required documents and details immediately
    • Approve and manage major quotations
    • Ensure retention of existing accounts
    • Assist in credit control

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum BCom (Insurance) Degree and ongoing professional qualifications (ACII or AIIK)
    • 5 years experience in a similar position
    • Ability to analyse risks and make recommendations.
    • Good knowledge of insurance practice

    Chief Finance Officer

     

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Implement internal financial controls across all functions in the Company; and ensure compliance to internal procedures, financial polices & standards, and statutory financial regulations
    • Responsible for the preparation of the financial, management reports and record keeping through the finance team
    • Financial Analysis of the business, financial and general operating information to identify trends and opportunities for development and produce management information to ensure that business developments remain financially viable
    • Capital Management by ensuring optimization of available cash &
    • liquidity requirements and ensure optimal returns
    • Responsible for the Budgeting and Planning process
    • Responsible for tax compliance and liaison with tax authority and advisers
    • Reviewing and approving payables, treasury, tax sections and bank transactions;
    • Coordinate internal and external audits both financial and tax audits;

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting, CPA or ACCA and member of a professional body
    • More than 6 years of relevant financial services experience
    • Practiced people leader with extensive experience in managing a large department
    • Able to work effectively across a multi-service Financial Services organization
