    Laboratory Technologist

    Reporting to the Laboratory Services in Charge this position will be responsible for collecting and testing of patient specimens and generating accurate reports to support treatment.

    Duties for the Laboratory Technologist Job

    • Work in collaboration with the Clinical team and the JH management to implement effective procedures, rules, regulations that are consistent with the organization values and policies.
    • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols for nursing services
    • Perform Laboratory investigations as per clinician’s request and ensure accurate, reliable and timely results.
    • Maintain order and smooth flow of patients.
    • Collection, preparation and management of samples and specimen including safe disposal
    • Quality control and cleanliness adherence for laboratory equipment.
    • Submitting lab reports monthly.
    • Ensure that all relevant records are updated and maintained.
    • Monitor and supervise proper usage of laboratory reagents.
    • Maintain Laboratory machines in good order- cleaning and covering after use.
    • Ensure general laboratory cleanliness is maintained.
    • Report any unusual statistics or observations to the laboratory in-charge.

    Laboratory Technologist Job Qualifications

    • Diploma in medical laboratory sciences.
    • Must be registered by KMLTTB
    • At least 3 years’ experience working in a busy Microbiology laboratory
    • Computer literate

    Nurse

    Responsible for providing and maintains high standards of professional nursing care to Expectant mothers while ensuring consistent provision of efficient and ethical care to support it in achieving quality health service delivery.

    Duties for the Nursing Job

    • Work in collaboration with the Clinical team and the JH management to implement effective procedures, rules, regulations that are consistent with the organization values and policies.
    • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols for nursing services.
    • Ensure compliance with established professional and institutional policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
    • Provide comprehensive antenatal care, postnatal care, family planning, deliveries, and other services for clients in Jacaranda’s fixed and/or mobile clinics, based on Jacaranda Health’s clinical protocols and processes
    • Provide friendly, helpful service, advice, guidance, and education to all clients
    • Maintain client and clinic operational data using our electronic medical records and other information systems
    • Maintain a good relationship with the community.
    • Work closely with peer educators, CHWs, and traditional birth attendants for outreach and education within the community

    Nursing Job Qualifications

    • Hold a diploma or degree in nursing from a recognized university/(medical training) college
    • Position holder should have at least 3 years’ experience working as a licensed Nurse/Midwife in a busy maternity institution.
    • Hold an active Nursing license from the local Nursing Council.

    Pharmaceutical Technologist Assistant

    Working closely with the Pharmaceutical Technologist to ensure and support in the smooth operations within the pharmacy including, properly discharging drugs to patients, ensuring pharmacy is well stocked at all times, and safeguarding established pharmaceutical protocols

    Duties for the Pharmaceutical Technologist Assistant Job

    • Oversee the use of medicines within the facility, in both in and outpatient settings;
    • Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions; preparing labels; calculating quantities; assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.
    • Oversee sale of prescribed medicine s to our clients and generate revenue by calculating, recording, and issuing charges;
    • Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs;
    • Maintains records by recording and filing physicians’ orders and prescriptions;
    • Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments;
    • Maintain internal and external safeguards regarding storage and dispensing of pharmacy products by complying with procedures, protocols, rules, and regulations;
    • Maintain detailed, meticulous records of all use of medicines, especially of controlled substances;
    • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols;
    • Prepare weekly stock requirements and submit to Pharmaceutical Technologist for request;
    • Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information;
    • Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions and requests; referring inquiries to the Pharmaceutical Technologist.

    Pharmaceutical Technologist Assistant Job Qualifications

    • Hold a Diploma or Certificate in pharmacy from a recognized university/college
    • Possess 1- 2 years’ experience in a busy pharmacy environment
    • Hold a valid license.
    • Demonstrated ability to facilitate teams in clinical settings in low resource settings.

    Quality Improvement Advisor

    The Quality Improvement Associate will work with other members of Jacaranda Health’s Quality Improvement Team to support the execution of our external QI partnerships, engage in our Community of Practice for QI Champions, provide expert support into our own facility and help us realize our vision in the longer term.

    Duties for the Quality Improvement Advisor Job

    • Enable and support the execution of QI Public Sector Partnerships
    • Help lead a QI Community of Practice for QI practitioners in Kenya
    • Provide training and decision-making support to internal managers and clinical staff on continuous performance measurement and QI activities.
    • Work with the data team internally and the M&E team externally to track and interpret key data to demonstrate performance improvement and encourage wider learning.
    • Document QI efforts for public dissemination and for publication in refereed journals

    Quality Improvement Advisor Job Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Formal training in Quality Improvement (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s Improvement Advisors Course, Total Quality Management, Kaisen)
    • At least 1 years’ experience in applying QI methodology to secure sustainable results in healthcare, preferably in the public sector
    • Strong IT literacy and experience of presenting and interpreting data
    • Demonstrated ability to facilitate teams in clinical settings in low resource countries
    • Trained and practiced as Clinician/Social Scientist/Public Health Specialist
    • 3 years’ experience working as an independent QI practitioner
    • Knowledge of statistical process control methods
    • Masters-level education in relevant field
