    Deputy Channel Lead - Social Franchise

    Reporting to the Channel Lead – Social Franchise, the Deputy Channel Lead – Social Franchise (DCL-SF) is responsible for the delivery of the social franchise strategy within a subset of the Marie Stopes Kenya Social Franchises. AMUA social franchise clinics deliver high quality family planning services to the poorest and hardest to reach areas of Kenya, and deliver the majority of MSK’s health impact.

    The post holder will directly supervise 5-6 Social Franchising Coordinators, and be responsible for the overall performance of these staff and the social franchise clinics under these staff. He/she will be responsible for increasing accountability in terms of mitigating fraud, and increasing the productivity and quality of care of the franchise services. He/she will be closely supported by other teams across MSK and monitored routinely by the Channel Lead – Social Franchise.

    Deputy Channel Lead – Social Franchise Job Responsibilities

    • Improve the productivity and efficiency of the Social Franchise Teams
    • With the support of the Channel lead,, establish and agree annual plans and strategies for each social franchise coordinator to reach their service, safe abortion and CYP targets.
    • Strategize with the Channel lead , to improve performance across the channel and implement new initiatives
    • Work with Social Franchising Coordinators to analyse the network for productivity, services delivered and quality to improve performance
    • Use the Marketing Strategy and work closely with marketing officers and field coordinators to strategize locally to increase overall client flow, as well as client flow from target audiences such as youth and high risk populations
    • Routinely monitor the performance of social franchise coordinators, and their clinic performance against targets and put management improvement strategies in place
    • Flag and mitigate against potential or actual fraud risks in collaboration with the MSK Internal Audit team
    • Individual OGSM targets met for each SF coordinator
    • Social Franchising coordinators improve their franchisee CYP, SA and client numbers month to month
    • Improve adherence to systems supporting Social Franchise operations
    • Ensure that working advance requests, payment requests, recruitment requests, surrenders and other paperwork are properly submitted and followed up as needed
    • Ensure that all ORION and other reports are done on time
    • Ensure banking and surrenders are done monthly and correctly
    • Line manage Social Franchise Coordinators and ensure that OGSMs are completed for all team members. Social Franchisinng Coordinators never work without advances or are stocked out of supplies
    • ORION and client records are complete
    • No loss due to financial fraud
    • Support improvements in clinical quality
    • Work closely with the MSK QAM team as instructed by lead to follow up action plans with SFCs to ensure high quality services are delivered at all times in all clinics
    • In collaboration with the QAM team, ensure that franchise provider clinical skills are routinely assessed and actions put in place to fill any gaps
    • Ensure all clinical incidents are reported as required
    • Ensure SF stocks are stored in accordance with MSI global standards
    • Improved QTA scores
    • Reduced complications
    • Demonstrate leadership qualities
    • Consistently model MSK leadership behaviours and develop leadership qualities among line reports
    • Present regularly to the MSK CMT/SMT on performance and new initiatives to improve performance as instructed by Channel lead
    • Build pride among MSK staff as providers of safe abortion services Improved staff engagement measured in annual surveys

    Qualifications for the Deputy Channel Lead – Social Franchise

    • Educated to Degree level (Graduate degree preferable)
    • Degree in a clinical discipline (desirable)
    • Experience in management of clinics and medical facilities
    • 5 years NGO experience
    • Experience in improving clinical quality through supportive supervision
    • Experience in dynamic, fast paced problem solving and turning around struggling facilities
    • Experience as a line manager including performance management (desirable)
    • Experience in financial forecasting and management
    • Experience in reproductive health programming (desirable)
    • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office package
    • Experience in a leadership position
    • Forceful, resilient personality
    • Confident presenter
    • Analytical ability and a creative thinker
    • Fluency in both written and spoken English, with exceptional writing and presentation skills
    • Ability to work well with others in a team environment
    • Ability to manage a very heavy and fluctuating workload

    Deputy Channel Lead

    Reporting to the Channel Lead – Outreach, the Deputy Channel Lead – Outreach (DCLO) is responsible for the overall delivery of the centres strategy within a subset of the Marie Stopes Kenya Clinical Outreach Teams. These teams deliver high quality family planning services to the poorest and hardest to reach areas of Kenya, and deliver the majority of MSK’s health impact.

    The post holder will directly supervise 6-8 Outreach Team leaders, and be responsible for the overall performance of their teams. They will also supervise 1-2 regional Clinical Officers or Doctors, who move between teams providing permanent methods of contraception.

    They will be responsible for increasing accountability in terms of mitigating fraud, increasing productivity through improving client flow and improving clinical quality through routine monitoring. They will be closely supported by other teams across MSK and monitored routinely by the Channel Lead – OLutreach and the Director of Programme Operations.

    Deputy Channel Lead Job Responsibilities

    • Improve the productivity and efficiency of the MSK Outreach Teams
    • With the support of the Senior Coordinator: Outreach, establish and collate agree annual plans and strategies for each team to reach their service and CYP targets.
    • Work with Team Leaders to map outreach sites and work cost efficiently to reach the most possible clients with the fewest nights out and minimize time spent on the road
    • Use the Marketing strategy and work closely with MSK Marketing officers and field coordinators to strategize locally to increase overall client flow, as well as client flow from target audiences such as youth and high risk populations
    • Strategize with the Channel lead – Outreach to improve performance, address underperformance across the channel and implement new initiatives
    • Routinely monitor the productivity of individual centre Outreach Team Leaders and providers and put performance management strategies in place as required
    • Flag and mitigate against potential or actual fraud risks in collaboration with the MSK Internal Audit team
    • Individual OGSM targets met for each centre
    • Outreach Teams improve their CYP and client numbers month to month
    • Improve adherence to systems supporting Outreach operations
    • Ensure that working advance requests, payment requests, stock reports, recruitment requests, surrenders and other paperwork are properly submitted and followed up as needed
    • Ensure that all client consent forms, insurance forms and other documents are appropriately filed and stored
    • Ensure that all CLIC shifts are closed and filed at the end of the day, and that team leaders are making the correct checks
    • Ensure banking and surrenders are done monthly and correct
    • Ensure stock cards are always up to date
    • Work closely with the MSK QAM team as instructed by the Lead to follow up action plans and ensure high quality services are delivered at all times
    • In collaboration with the QAM team, ensure that staff clinical skills are routinely assessed and actions put in place to fill any gaps
    • Fill out monthly quality checklists in collaboration with centre teams and forward the same to the Channel lead to address any gaps
    • Ensure clinical governance files are always properly maintained, including staff shadow files in alignment with MSI global standards
    • Ensure all clinical incidents are reported as required
    • Ensure stocks are stored in accordance with MSI global standards
    • Improved internal audit and QTA scores
    • Reduced complications
    • Consistently model MSK leadership behaviours and develop leadership qualities among line reports
