    Grants Coordinator

    The Grants Coordinator will to provide essential grant management support to HoP in delivering quality programmes in line with the NRC COs strategy and PoA for Kenya and for Tanzania.

    Grants Coordinator reports to the Head of Programmes

    Roles

    • Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
    • Develop and maintain overview of all grants, donor requirements, rules and regulations, and internal and external deadlines, including filing of grant documents (including through the grants database – forthcoming)
    • Coordinate the development of donor applications and reports, as well as ensuring donor compliance and quality control
    • Contribute to the development and revision of funding proposals, budgets and donor reports
    • Be updated on donor priorities and track and share relevant calls for proposals
    • Document, analyze, and share learning from proposal and reporting process, and compliance with donor rules and regulations
    • Contribute to continuously improving internal grant management systems including information management systems and M&E
    • Provide an internal help-desk on donor related issues, including organize and deliver trainings in donor rules and regulations, as well as proposal and report writing
    • Coordinate the development and distribution of internal reports
    • Contribute to PCM trainings and usage of the NRC PCM frame work in the CO as delegated by the Head of Programme
    • Support external donor audits
    • Represent with relevant partners and donors as delegated
    • Ensure key controls and tools are in place and maintained daily to support effective management of the funding portfolio and compliance with donor requirements.
    • Ensure copies of donor concept notes, proposals, contracts and reports are correctly filed on NRC’s filing system and also kept in hard copy.
    • Work with CC Specialists to support implementing partners with reviewing of budgets, expenditure, donor rules and regulations, and implementation progress through grant opening, grant review and grant closing meetings with implementing partners, following NRC Kenya’s PCM guidelines

    Job Qualifications

    • 5 years of relevant experience within field of expertise in refugees and IDPs contexts
    • Relevant experience from the project management in the humanitarian sector
    • Experience from working with humanitarian and development donors
    • Good understanding of donor rules and regulations
    • Skills and experience in report and proposal writing
    • Strong communication, coordination and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
    • Above average computer skills

    Education Specialist

    The Education Specialist will be responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of education projects in the Kenya programme and Tanzania Programme.

    Education Specialist reports to the Head of Programmes

    Roles

    • Develop Education strategy, technical SOPs, and Macro LFAs in line with NRC Programme Policy and national and international standards, and in coordination with other Core Competences
    • Compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
    • Contribute to fundraising, develop and revise funding proposal, budgets and donor reports
    • Identify trends technical standards and donor priorities
    • Follow up on compliance with contractual commitments within Education CC, ensure high technical quality and synergies in project implementation
    • Provide technical direction and project implementation support
    • Ensure that key learnings are extracted from Education CC implementation, and incorporate them in Education CC and staff development processes
    • Provide systematic training and build capacity of technical staff
    • Represent NRC in relevant forums/clusters, including with national authorities and donors
    • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
    • Specific responsibilities
    • Provide support and guidance to the non-formal education (NFE) and youth programming implemented in country
    • Strategic project / programme planning, resource mobilisation (including contributing to grant writing) and revising the project/programme as necessary throughout the project and programme life cycles
    • Ensure harmonization and consistency across education projects implemented in both Kenya and Tanzania.
    • Ensure coordination with relevant education stakeholders including representation and effective networking.

    Job Qualifications

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in working as a senior Program Manager and/or Advisor of humanitarian/ recovery education programme, preferably in refugees / IDPs environments
    • Proven expertise in Education (formal, non-formal and informal) with particular focus of complex programme with out of schoolchildren, youth.
    • Experience of setting up and implementing monitoring, documentation and learning systems.
    • University degree or higher education relevant to education and / or social science assignment.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills
    • Proven skills and experience in report and proposal writing
    • Ability to prioritize needs and carry out multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
    • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
    • Prior experience and proven capability in training and capacity development
    • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
