    Accountant

    Job Description

    Duties:

    • Providing accurate and timely management accounting reports and business performance data.
    • Coordinating the preparation of accurate and up-to date financial and management accounting information to facilitate decision making.
    • Establishing and maintaining effective internal control systems and procedures.
    • Maintaining robust cash handling and banking procedures.
    • Designing and implementing effective systems of monitoring performance against budget.
    • Identifying significant budget variances and possible remedial action.
    • Producing divisional and corporate forecasts for income and expenditure on monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
    • Providing relevant and timely monthly statements, reports and reconciliations together with appropriate interpretation and advice for the Senior Management Team.
    • Ensuring effective cash flow and treasury management.
    • Liaising with the external auditors and managing the annual audit process

    Primary/Operational Duties

    • Maintenance of General Ledger, Accounts Analysis, Reconciliations and Review of the Trial Balance
    • Ensure that all the Hospital’s bank and cash accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis and that outstanding items are followed up and cleared.
    • Maintenance of the Fixed Assets Register
    • Preparation & Input of Journal Entries in the system with the approval of the Finance Manager
    • Preparation of management report for both internal and external reporting.
    • Compilation of information and preparation of schedules required by internal and independent auditors for assigned areas of responsibility
    • Ensure accurate and timely month-end closing tasks that include, account analysis, reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, actual to forecast variance analysis etc.
    • Assisting in the improvement in internal controls related to inventory and monitoring inventory transactions
    • Reconciling inventory accounts to the general ledger
    • Analyzing inventory cost variances and other accuracy issues impacting perpetual inventory records
    • Assist with planning, execution, reconciliation and reporting of physical inventory counts
    • Ensure all incoming and out-going invoices are settled on time
    • Ensure the company complies with all PAYE, VAT, Tax return and financial reporting requirements
    • Perform day-to-day accounting functions
    • Any other responsibility assigned by the Finance Manager

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in accounting or its equivalent.
    • CPA(K) or ACCA.
    • Minimum three (5) years progressive working experience
    • Experience in healthcare industry is an added advantage
    • At least two (2) years’ experience in an audit firm

    Knowledge and Skills Requirements

    • Excellent analytics and experience with financial statements, QuickBooks, and Excel
    • Proficient in accounting software applications and use of ERP.
    • Highly resourceful, independent, and self-starting
    • Ability to communicate findings compellingly to colleagues and advisors
    • Interest in global health
    • Expert knowledge of accounting, auditing, financial and management reporting.
    • Experience in auditing would be an added advantage
    • Effective leadership skills
    • Results and detail oriented
    • Easy-going enough to work in a fluid start up environment in Nairobi

    Research Assistant

    Job Summary: This study is seeking a research assistant to work on the Monitoring and Evaluation team. This individual will work closely with the various members of the team to conduct research on various aspects of reproductive, maternal and child healthcare.

    This role will include the following responsibilities:

    • Collecting and organizing data
    • Conducting data entry
    • Ensuring data quality
    • Working with M&E team members to improve and refine data collection and entry tools
    • We are looking for someone who is interested in building up their research methods skills. This person should be an intelligent, proactive, and flexible individual with experience conducting surveys for health research and evaluations.

    Conditions: This is a part time position with the possibility to transition to a full time position, subject to performance and availability of funding. Employee schedules will be planned on a weekly basis and Remuneration will be on a daily rate

    Responsibilities

    • Arrive to work promptly and reliably
    • Interact with community members with the highest level of integrity, sensitivity and understanding
    • Recruit eligible women into study and obtain informed consent using proper ethical standards
    • Collect data through means such as in-person interviews, phone calls, and observation
    • Collaborate with colleagues to improve one another’s data collection and data entering skills
    • Work with the Program Officer to implement improvements to data collection tools and methods
    • Conduct data entry using computer data entry system
    • Attend to other administrative duties, as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors’ degree or college diploma/certificate
    • 1 or more years of research-related work experience
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili
    • Experience with data collection through household and/or phone surveys, exit interviews, focus groups, observation
    • Ability to recognize when questions are difficult or unclear to participants
    • Excellent note taking ability during interviews
    • Willingness to travel within Nairobi
    • Dependable and upholding highest level of honesty and confidentiality
    • High attention to detail and problem-solving skills
    • Proactive, self-motivated and team-oriented
    • Ability to multi-task effectively
    • Comfortable with interviewing individuals in a variety of locations

    Sonographer

    The job holder will be responsible for providing quality ultrasound services to our clients, reviewing and analyzing reports and producing the same for physician review.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Explaining the ultrasound procedure to patients and answering any questions they may have.
    • Maintaining the ultrasound equipment and maintaining the room in which the procedure takes place.
    • Maintaining high standards of customer service to clients.
    • Performing the ultrasound ensuring the transducer (probe) is capturing images of every angle/section that must be assessed and ensuring the images are of best quality.
    • Maintaining patient’s records and adding medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure if necessary.
    • Any other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Diploma in Medical Imaging Sciences
    • Higher diploma in ultrasound
    • Valid practicing license
    • Position holder should have at least 2 years’ experience.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail
    • Computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Ability to work effectively with a team in a culturally diverse environment
    • A good understanding of community dynamics with knowledge and familiarity with low-income urban areas.

    Peadiatrics Clinical Officer

    The job holder will be primarily responsible for providing quality clinical services to our clients and pediatric cases.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Monitoring and providing appropriate clinical care to patients
    • Examining and talking to patients to diagnose their medical conditions;
    • Making notes and preparing paperwork, both as a legal record of treatment and for the benefit of other healthcare professionals
    • Coordinate and discuss planned care with the patient and other team professionals as appropriate.
    • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with all staff and patients.
    • Ensure that patients are kept fully informed of and understand all procedures and treatments to be undertaken. Informed Consent will be obtained from patients in accordance with Jacaranda policy.

    Knowledge and Skills Requirements

    • Hold a valid practicing license.
    • 2 years’ experience in a busy environment, preferably a maternity hospital especially running the pediatric services.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent analytical reasoning skills and meticulous attention to detail
