    Medical Officers

    Responsibilities

    The officer at this level may be deployed in the County or Sub County Hospital(s) and will be responsible for:

    • Formulation, implementation and review of all health policies, regulations, standards, guidelines and protocols
    • Provision of clinical care, general/community diagnosis and treatment and rehabilitation of patients
    • Undertake medical examinations and write reports
    • Conduct disease prevention, surveillance and control
    • Provision of emergency response and clinical care services during disaster
    • Provision of forensic and medico-legal services
    • Provision of medical psychosocial interventions
    • Provision of medical health education and promotion
    • Facilitation of Medical Boards’ proceedings
    • Facilitation of training of interns and other health personnel

    Requirements

    • M. B, Ch. B or its equivalent from a recognized institution
    • One year internship from a recognized institution
    • Registration certificate from Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board

    Pharmacists

    Responsibilities

    The officer at this level may be deployed in the County or Sub County Hospital(s) and will be responsible for:

    • Formulation, implementation, review and interpretation of all pharmaceutical and other related health policies, laws, regulations, guidelines and standards
    • Management of the pharmaceutical supply chain
    • Provision of medical and non-medical therapy in patient care
    • Coordination of pharmaceutical services in public health programs
    • Provision of medicines used in prevention, control and diagnosis of diseases
    • Provision of pharmacovigilance services
    • Coordination of medicines and therapeutics committee activities
    • Planning, management and monitoring of essential medicines during disasters and emergencies
    • Management of custody and safe use of illicit psychotropic and narcotic substances
    • Provision of health education and health promotion on rational drug use
    • Provision of information to health workers and the general public on new drugs
    • Management of pharmaceutical information systems
    • Provision of continuing medical education for health workers in general and continuous professional development for pharmacists
    • Facilitation of training and assessment of pharmacy interns and students on clinical experience
    • Management of health facilities

    Requirements

    • Bachelor of Pharmacy or its equivalent from a recognized institution

    Dentist

    Responsibilities

    The officer at this level will be deployed in the County or Sub County Hospital(s) and will be responsible for:

    • Administer anaesthetics to limit the amount of pain experienced by patients during procedures.
    • Examine teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays, and other diagnostic equipment, to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriate treatments.
    • Formulate plan of treatment for patient’s teeth and mouth tissue.
    • Use air turbine and hand instruments, dental appliances and surgical implements.
    • Advise and instruct patients regarding preventive dental care, the causes and treatment of dental problems, and oral health care services.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Requirements

    • Have a Dental Degree of B.D.S. or equivalent from a University recognized in Kenya.
    • Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioner and Dentist Board.
    • Be in good profession standing with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board (MPDB) and completion of dental internship.
    • Be proficient in computer skills.
    • Have capacity to multitasks within strict timeliness.

    Registered Clinical Officer

    Responsibilities

    The incumbent will be responsible for providing healthcare services to ear, nose and throat patients in the hospital:

    • Diagnosis and treatment diseases of ear, nose, and throat
    • Determine nature and extent of disorder, prescribe and/ or administer medications
    • Consult with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment
    • Keep inventory and attention to proper care & maintenance of special equipment’s within the ENT Outpatient facility.
    • Support specialised ENT surgical services and services delivery in the surgery department of the hospital ensuring that they meet the expected standards of quality, quantity and compliance
    • Coordinate ENT surgery referral services within and within and without the hospital according to the ENT surgery services needs in collaboration with other hospital sections and departments and within the framework of the hospital and national referral policies
    • Supervise ENT staff together with their services, in the ENT department of the hospital to ensure that they offer timely ENT services within the expected standards of quantity and quantity complying with the established ethics and regulations
    • Ensure and coordinate continuous training and development of ENT staff for their effective and efficient performance and productivity
    • Coordinate and provide ENT research and training within the ENT department of the hospital
    • Offer specialised ENT surgery services’ advice to the hospital executive and other sections/departments and the general public in the appropriate media
    • Work with other medical specialists to solve single or multiple medical issue (s) or perform extensive surgery, when required in the hospital
    • Monitor and evaluate progress and achievement of the ENT services, research and training programs in the hospital, prepare and disseminate periodic reports appropriately.

    Requirements

    • Higher Diploma in ENT from a recognised institution
    • At least two (2) years relevant experience
    • Registered with the Clinical Officer’s Council- Kenya
    • Knowledge of relevant legislations
    • Knowledge of professional standards
