    Horticultural Farm Manager

    Key responsibilities

    • Coordinate all agronomic practices from planting to harvesting of export horticultural produce in accordance with set international quality standards.
    • Handle all staff matters within the farm
    • Issuance and control of farm inputs
    • Compilation of budgets reports
    • Ensure proper storage, service and repair of all farm machinery, tools, and other implements
    • Report any faults or break down of machinery to management for replacement or repairs
    • Manage irrigation infrastructure in the farm

    Qualification and experience

    • Must be aged 30-40 years
    • Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from a recognized university
    • Over 7 years’ experience in charge of a large horticultural farm
    • Must have excellent presentation and report writing skills

    Packhouse Manager

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Ensuring that the company quality policy is well understood and maintained by all staff involved in all stages of production process in terms of product safety, quality and legality.
    • Ensuring that traceability is implemented and maintained in all stages of the production process and at all times.
    • Monitoring and advising on all matters involving maintenance of the packhouse sanitation, personal hygiene, first aid and pest control services.
    • Maintain the HACCP system that identifies all hazards associated with the products and following the monitoring systems and controls to reduce or eliminate the hazards.
    • Identify and recommend training needs of the staff involved in ensuring product safety and quality.
    • Doing investigations in case of a product complain or rejection by the clients and ensuring measures have been put in place to avoid a reoccurrence.
    • Coordinate all the aspects of quality assessment audit such as BRC Global standard on food safety, internal audits and second party audits.
    • Ensures that there is enough and efficient labour in running of daily packhouse activities.
    • Ensures that raw material sourcing is done in an effective and efficient manner.
    • Ensures proper planning is in place to meet daily customers' orders.
    • Ensure that all packed products are well labeled as per customers' specification.
    • Coordinate third party audits which include: BRC, GLOBAL GAR TN 10, GRASP and all other audits carried out by KEPHIS, HCDA and other regulatory bodies.
    • Company systems auditor both farms and packhouse.
    • Is the HACCP Team leader.

    Knowledge/skills/Competencies

    • Bsc. in Food Science and Technology/Agriculture related science or any other relevant field from a recognized university.
    • 10 years’ experience in the food processing industry with 4 years’ experience as a Quality Manager and 2 years as a Packhouse Manager.
    • Trained as a Lead auditor. HACCP. Internal Auditor, First aider, Health and safety among others.
    • Must possess excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills
    • Good Managerial/leadership and Organizational Skills

    Technical Manager - Farms

    Main responsibilities

    • Developing programmes that ensure effective and efficient utilization of farm plants, machinery and equipments
    • Evaluating and making recommendations on optimum use of farms plants and machinery.
    • Ensuring that farms plants and machinery are in good working conditions at all times.
    • Design, installation and maintenance of irrigations systems incorporating overhead and Drip irrigation. In-charge of all the repairs and maintenance of plants, machinery and equipments
    • Developing and implementing innovative mechanization techniques with a view to increasing efficiency and minimize costs of farm operations.
    • Ensuring that farms' health and safety policies are adhered to by plant and machinery operators.
    • Liaise with Procurement Manager in preparation of new plant and machinery specifications
    • Conduct necessary tests on new plants, machinery and equipments.

    Qualifications and experience

    • Aged between 35-45 years
    • Bachelor of Mechanical/Agricultural Engineering from a recognized university
    • Must have at least 7 years hands-on experience in Agricultural Engineering works in a busy agricultural environment. Those who have experience in horticulture farms will have an added advantage.
    • Must have adequate knowledge of Agricultural equipments', plants and standby generators
    • Must possess adequate mechanical and engineering analytical skills
    • Must have good communication and report writing skills
    • Those with HND in Mechanical Engineering in addition to the above mentioned competencies will also be considered.
