    Finance Officer (Loan Operations)

    Job Summary:

    The Finance Officer (Loan Operations) is responsible for the management of the Bank's loan portfolio in line with the Bank’s policies as well as International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs); ensuring completeness and accuracy of the Bank’s loan records and that its income is completely accounted for and fairly stated; and for providing loan reports and related disclosures.

    Job Specifications:

    The Finance Officer (Loan Operations) is responsible for:

    • Ensuring that loan related transactions and functions are carried out accurately and timely;
    • applying rules, sanctions and covenants to transactions and records;
    • Identifying areas for improvement and system enhancements in loan operations;
    • Carrying out periodic database reviews;
    • Guiding management decisions and actions;
    • Providing financial perspective and technical advice in committees and task forces;
    • Carrying out loan administration tasks including, creating and maintaining client master records, timely booking disbursements, and attending to client queries and correspondence;
    • Preparing billing statements in accordance with loan agreements and tracking the repayment of amounts due;
    • Providing guidance to business units on loan operations;
    • Extracting and providing information for covenant reporting;
    • Reconciling monthly sub-ledger balances with the nominal ledger;
    • Providing information on loan transactions through monthly disbursements listing, daily receipt allocations, libor reference spreadsheet and loan classifications, etc.;
    • Addressing discrepancies and preparing and posting journals.

    Qualifications:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce or related field, with relevant professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CFA or CIMA;  
    • A minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience in accounting and budgeting positions in a busy commercial banking or development financial institution environment;
    • Proven track record in financial management and ability to carry out loan accounting and administration and accounting and budgeting functions, and maintaining reliable accounting systems and financial reporting;
    • Strong quantitative orientation with financial modelling knowledge, computer literacy and hands-on skills in enterprise resource planning systems (particularly SAP);
    • Financial and accountancy knowledge and comprehension of International Financial Reporting Standards;
    • Strong analytical skills and excellent presentation proficiencies;
    • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, manage dynamic priorities, strong professional independence, unquestionable integrity and able to work under pressure to deliver on strict deadlines with minimal supervision;
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work in diverse teams and with supervisory skills;
    • Result oriented individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Finance Officer (Financial Modelling)

    Job Summary:

    The Finance Officer (Financial Modelling) is actively involved in analysing the Bank’s performance and creating various reports to support the Bank’s management in decision making; assisting departments identify focus areas to improve performance; involvement in preparing the corporate plan and annual budgets; timely preparation of accurate and reliable monthly management accounts; financial management reporting; preparation of various financial reports, analyses and dashboards.

    Job Specifications:

    The Finance Officer (Financial Modelling) performs the following duties:

    • Analyse financial data and create financial models to support decision making;
    • Report on financial performance and prepare for regular management reviews;
    • Analyse past performance, carry out variance analysis; identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements;
    • Work closely with the Accounting and Budgeting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and decision support;
    • Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analysing actual results with plans, forecasts and corporate plan.
    • Forecast full year performance based on current performance.
    • Recommend actions after analysing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses;
    • Identify and recommend areas to drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports and dashboards using the Corporate Financial Model , Excel and other applications.
    • Assist Accounting and Budgeting unit in preparing annual budgets and corporate plans and carrying out mid- year / term reviews.
    • In-house training of Bank staff on financial modelling, forecasting and advanced Excel. 

    Qualifications:

    • A Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce or related field, with relevant professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CFA or CIMA;  
    • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in accounting and budgeting positions in a busy commercial banking or Development Financial Institution environment;
    • Proven track record in financial management functions and maintaining reliable accounting systems;
    • Strong financial analysis, forecasting and modelling skills;
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with data query/data management tools (Access, SQL, Business Objects)
    • Robust quantitative orientation with financial modeling knowledge, computer literacy and hands-on skills in enterprise resource planning systems (particularly SAP);
    • Financial and accountancy knowledge and knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards;
    • Strong analytical skills and excellent presentation proficiency;
    • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, manage dynamic priorities, strong professional independence, unquestionable integrity and able to work under pressure to deliver on strict deadlines with minimal supervision;
    • Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills with ability to work in diverse teams;
    • Result oriented individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Annual budget preparation;
    • Timely preparation of accurate and reliable monthly management accounts;
    • Preparation of audit schedules;
    • Timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and the bank's financial policies and procedures;
    • Financial management reporting;
    • Managing per diems and cash imprest;
    • Coding and posting of financial transactions;
    • Processing payments;
    • Keeping accurate financial records;
    • Preparation of various financial reports, monthly analyses of nominal ledger accounts and bank reconciliation statements;
