    Finance Assistant

    About The Team

    The Komaza Finance team is a critical service center for the organization. We are meticulous, detail oriented-doers, who know how to balance sustainable, scalable systems with urgent, high priority demands. Though an internal facing department, we take a customer service-centered approach to meeting the needs of the company so Komaza can thrive.

    About this Role

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and systematic individual to be part of our finance team. As a finance assistant, you will play a critical role in handling the day to day activities of the finance department. You will also support the department in finance administration, managing the filing system and provide finance services to other department.

    What You Will Do

    • Receive and verify expense reports and payment forms
    • Manage finance sign in logs and work tracker
    • Print out of payment requests from satellite offices
    • Manage the finance filing system
    • Receive and receipt sales invoices and maintain a G-sheet log
    • Retrieve archived documents requested by other departments

    What You Have

    • A bachelor degree in a business related field
    • Professional accounting qualification - CPA, ACCA
    • At least 1 year work experience
    • Strong computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel

    VP Business Operations

    About The Team

    Komaza is entering a phase of rapid growth and will soon expand into new geographies. To succeed, our business support teams must also rapidly increase their speed, scope and scale of work. We need to design, hire for, and build new service departments including Supply Chain (procurement & logistics), Fleet Management (for scores of motorbikes), Business Administration (facilities & property management) and IT (hundreds of computers and smartphones). Each service function will be led by a strong, experienced manager, each growing their team and systems to support rapid growth. Collectively, this group of business operations departments will grow from 15 to 40+ people over the next two years.

    About This Role

    As Komaza’s VP of Business Operations (BizOps), you will be responsible for leading our shared services center to support rapid expansion of our operations. You will build a team of key managers and direct development of clear strategic plans for each department, then drive to results. This role requires significant hands-on design leadership to build systems, data structures, policies, plans, and cultivate a culture of excellence. Beyond building capacity within each department, you must also connect the dots between departments to foster the collaboration required to tackle major challenges.

    Qualifications

    • MBA from top global university (or equivalent degree/work experience)
    • 10-14 years of work experience at industry-leading companies in a relevant field (e.g. finance, internal consulting), with 3+ years of experience leading high-caliber team mates
    • Superb analytical, critical-thinking and quantitative skills, with prior experience in complex systems design, excel modeling, and operational implementation
    • Strong innovation skills to troubleshoot bottlenecks and design continuous improvements.
    • Ability to retain big-picture strategic awareness while diving deep into details, and providing coaching to help others focus on key factors, rather than getting lost in the weeds.

    Business Development Associate

    About the Team

    With African wood supply under heavy pressure of measures to combat deforestation, and a booming demand driven by economic growth, the Business Development team is continuously working to maximize returns for Komaza and its farmers by addressing the most appealing markets with the most suitable wood products. Curious and impatient, the team combines analytical skills with a hands-on entrepreneurial mentality to develop and test strategies, products and projects to unlock Komaza’s vast growth potential.

To gather the necessary information and ensure successful implementation, you collaborate cross-departmental and with different stakeholders in the office and in the field.

    What You Will Do

    • Lead or support the research, design, prototyping, evaluation, and implementation of new business opportunities
    • Analyse research findings and prepare compelling presentations to support key decisions for management and potential investors
    • Facilitate discussions on business process improvements & advising on possible solutions
    • Perform cost of sales analyses and coordinate follow-up on identified opportunities
    • Capacity building - work with business development team members to convey sales development techniques and technical skills

    What You Have

    • A Master’s degree in a relevant field
    • 2 years working experience in a hands-on analytical role
    • A proven track record of solving complex, ambiguous problems in a structured way (e.g., as management consultant, research manager, or business analyst)
    • Experience working in East Africa
    • Advanced Excel skills for creating analysis and detailed models to inform decision-making
    • Passion for Komaza’s mission to lift rural farmers out of poverty through the rapid scaling of our microforestry model
