    Senior Engineer, Technical Planning

    Description

    To oversee Aircraft maintenance activities/Projects and ensure they are defined, planned and executed to meet company business, aviation authority and third party requirements in the assigned area.

    Roles

    • Develop and implement new planning & programs activities within the section.
    • Analyze historical data to improve the processes / products of the section.
    • Create and update Heavy maintenance plans (incorporating painting and main components changes like landing gears, APU and engines) and providing the costs of required resources for use in Technical department budget preparation.
    • Ensure that Manpower capacity planning (Forecasting, Budgeting and Scheduling) requirements are defined to support Maintenance Work program.
    • Assess and develop proposals for outsourced and 3rd party maintenance contracts.
    • Act as technical representative to MRO when maintenance work is outsourced and act as team leader on behalf of manager technical planning responsible for executing contracts on outsourcing checks/ components/ aircraft leases.
    • Ensure that all maintenance checks are planned and executed as per the company approved Aircraft Maintenance Program and any other relevant documentation.
    • Prepare reports and charts for heavy maintenance pre-input, progressive closure and resources availability to the Business.
    • Ensure the Aircraft Systems and Cabin is maintenance plans are at the highest standard as required to achieve Kenya Airways’ goal.
    • Participate in investigations for Quality Lapses and support remedies in accordance with company procedures.

    Job Qualifications

    • Graduate from a recognized university (aeronautical, electrical/electronic or mechanical) with at least five years’ experience in an Aviation engineering / maintenance function of which three must be in maintenance planning office.
    • Experience in short term and long term maintenance planning
    • Experience in supervising , teams , tasks or projects
    • Experience in managing third party maintenance planning activities
    • Project Management Training
    • Contract Negotiation Skills (added advantage)
    • Demonstrated experience in dealing with OEMs
    • Excellent Analytical skills
    • Detailed knowledge on the KCAA regulations and the Kenya Airways engineering procedures

    Senior Engineer, Engineering Development

    Role Description:       

    Responsible for development definition of engineering standards within his/her discipline in the company and third party fleets with a view of optimizing airline and customer aircraft product cost whilst maintaining safety standards.

    Roles

    • Defines technical standards for optimized aircraft product cost of ownership and safety
    • Ensure regulatory authorities airworthiness directives (ADs); manufacturer’s service bulletins (SBs), service information letters (SILs) are accomplished at optimized cost whilst maintaining safety standards.
    • Develops ETOPS, MELs and Flight Test manuals to ensure that they meet the local authority requirements.
    • Develops Aircraft interior Layout of Passenger Accommodations (LOPA) for different aircraft in Kenya Airways fleet. During VVIP operations, prepare the VVIP LOPA and have it approved by the Director General of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).
    • Develop aircraft weighing schedules and perform actual weighing for Kenya Airways fleet and third party operators
    • Performs statistical analysis of aircraft systems failures, components, power plants and structures to improve management of airworthiness and maintenance cost.
    • Initiates preliminary investigations and formulate a recommendation of corrective and preventive actions for conditions that are above alert limits
    • Does continuous monitoring of corrective actions to determine their effectives
    • Represent the airlines position on technical issues to respective original equipment manufacturers (OEM) with a view to improve reliability and cost effectiveness
    • Collates technical disruption data and determine dispatch reliability for comparison with the Kenya airways and industry standards
    • Participates in aircraft, engines & components specifications activities during aircraft pre- delivery, delivery and redelivery
    • Liaise with manufacturers and vendors on repetitive issues affecting the industry
    • Creates technical / economical substantiation for warranty or claim handling.

    Job Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills, Experience

    • Graduate from a recognized university (aeronautical or electrical/electronic) with at least five years’ experience in an Aviation engineering / maintenance function of which one must be in development office.
    • Successfully completed graduate engineering training programme
    • Successfully completed a full type course on more than one aircraft in the fleet.
    • Experience in supervising, teams, tasks or projects
    • Project Management Training
    • Contract Negotiation Skills (added advantage)
    • Knowledge in developing engineering documentation and engineering design
    • Demonstrated experience in dealing with OEMs, major vendors and other service providers.
    • Demonstrated experience in using predictive maintenance tools.
    • Excellent Analytical skills (Advanced ability to carry out root course analysis )
    • Detailed knowledge on the KCAA regulations and the Kenya Airways engineering procedures

    Training Officer, Non-Regulatory Training

    Roles

    • Organize, conduct & evaluate Ground Services training & development programmes to enhance organizational and individual performance for staff at Kenya Airways and for commercial customers
    • Training Needs Analysis (TNA)- carry out comprehensive TNA to identify the  training gaps and design solutions  to ensure they address capability development needs.
    • Design training programmes in accordance to ISAGO/IOSA standards to respond to training gaps.
    • Prepare and update training manuals
    • Preparing the training calendar to schedule the training as per business needs.
    • Maintain up to date and accurate training records as per IOSA/ISAGO /KCARS standards.
    • Set, moderate, administer and grade exams as per IATA recommended standards.
    • Training Co-ordination- Liaise with relevant contacts stakeholders to enable smooth coordination of training
    • Report writing- compile relevant training reports as may be required from time to time.
    • Monitoring and Evaluation of training to ensure that training is business driven. Hence transfer of knowledge and skills.
    • Issuance of certificates to qualified staff to ensure compliance with ISAGO, IOSA, KCAA and KQ standards and procedures.
    • Marketing KQ commercial training programs in order to help contribute to the achievement of commercial objectives.
    • Participate in the review of operational manuals (as necessary) and monitor Standard operating procedures (S.O.Ps) to ensure compliance within operational areas.
    • Act as subject matter expert for the business
    • Ensure and maintain a healthy, safe and secure working environment in compliance with the relevant industry, regulatory and legislative requirements, company procedures, regulatory authorities and requirements of customer airlines.
    • Prepare learning materials and venue to ensure effective delivery of training.
    • Deliver the training to the selected participant to enhance knowledge and skills
    • Follow up on course participants to evaluate level of skills transfer & implementation of action plans.
    • Prepare progress & assessment report on course participants for follow up and recommendations to their respective supervisor.

    Job Qualifications

    • University graduate
    • A minimum of 5 years experience in Cargo Operations area, 2 of which must be at a supervisory level.
    • IATA courses in Live Animals Regulations, Shipping of Perishable Cargo and Basic and Advanced cargo skills and procedures Courses.
    • Relevant instructor experience and Training of trainers certification will be an added advantage
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
    • Excellent IT skills
