    Project Associate, Marketplace for Nutritious Foods

    SALARY: Competitive

    STARTING DATE: January 2019

    We are seeking to deploy a Project Associate who will act as point of contact between GAIN and the project’s Innovation Accelerator beneficiaries (Small and medium sized enterprises) and provide support to the Project Manager. Under their guidance, you will support the Implementation of the project’s main activities—Innovation Accelerator, Community of Practice, with a particular focus on the implementation of the projects Innovation Accelerator activities.

    The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing the performance of consultants and subcontractors, as well as experience and knowledge in food science, technology and the agriculture or business. You must be comfortable with report writing and be able to analyse and make recommendations for the improvement of technical reports and business documents (business plans, market research). It is essential that you have an understanding of financial literacy (understanding of P&L accounts, balance sheets, cashflow projections etc.) with strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work with agribusiness managers from a variety of backgrounds.

    Project Manager, Marketplace for Nutritions Foods

    STARTING DATE: December 2018

    We are seeking to deploy a Project Manager who will oversee and implement the Marketplace for Nutritious Foods (the Marketplace) project in Kenya. You will also oversee and assume responsibility for the on-time and on-budget implementation of the project’s main activities—Innovation Accelerator, Community of Practice, Technical Advisory Committee meetings, etc. You will also be responsible for the accurate and on-time gathering of project impact and indicator data and for the development of donor reports that are on-time, and of high quality. As a Project Manager, you will carry out reporting technical and financial documentation responsibilities for all GAIN, donor and Government of Kenya requirements and act as point of contact between GAIN and the project’s beneficiaries (agribusinesses) and other stakeholders. Your overall responsibility will be to ensure the quality of business planning and technical assistance delivered to Marketplace grantees and act as point of contact between GAIN and the Government of Kenya departments and ministries for matters relating to the implementation of the Marketplace. You will be required to proactively build networks with other donor-funded initiatives within GAIN and oversee the coordination of logistics and content of Community of Practice events. You will be required to manage and Report on the program progress, budget, and management of funds. With support from your direct supervisor you will plan, monitor, and ensure that the project meets targets in terms of impact achievement, visibility, and resource utilization. As part of your role, you will visit beneficiaries regularly to ensure that project progress is on track and risk mitigation plan is up to date.

    The ideal candidate will have extensive experience and knowledge of leading on programs as a Project Manager with proven project management capabilities and the ability to manage consultants and subcontractors. You must have experience in agriculture and experience of developing business in the Kenya context. You must have experience and the ability to manage donor-funded development projects and to manage donor relations, compliance with donor regulations, and donor reports. You will have strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work with agribusiness managers from a variety of backgrounds (Kenyan and international) be able to manage a team.
