    Data Analyst

    Job description

    The International Livestock Research (ILRI) Institute seeks to recruit a Data Analyst to Design the databases in CSPro and/or any other format for different questionnaires and other survey tools and instruments, Perform Data cleaning and verification before the analysis

    ILRI works to improve food and nutritional security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for efficient, safe and sustainable use of livestock. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR research centres dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices and projects in East, South and Southeast Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa. www.ilri.org

    Responsibilities

    • Design the databases in CSPro and/or any other format for different questionnaires and other survey tools and instruments
    • Enter the data in the data base regularly
    • Conduct data verification and cleaning using MSQ excel
    • Perform Data cleaning and verification before the analysis
    • Assist M&E in report writing and provide quick feedback of the findings to inform the USAID quarterly reporting
    • Asist M&E in field data collection, analysis and generation of appropriate deliverables (descriptive statistics, tables etc.)
    • In liaison with the County Coordinators, county livestock marketing officers, county livestock marketing Councils (CLMCs), and LMA officials, collate livestock sales data on monthly basis

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in statistics or any other relevant field Development Studies, Project Management or Agric economics, with demonstrable practical experience in data analysis for 3 years OR Diploma in one of the above-mentioned areas with a minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in data analysis and reporting.
    • Field experience within livestock development projects in the Kenyan ASALs – especially in livestock husbandry, animal health, livestock production and farmer/pastoralists’ market linkages.
    • Demonstrated experience working in collaborative development projects involving multiple partners and including good understanding of both National and County Government structures and processes.
    • Demonstrated experience in field survey activities and supervision of enumerators.
    • Exposure to monitoring & evaluation activities.
    • Excellent written and spoken English.
    • Good interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills especially to diverse audience and targets.
    • Ability to work in multi-cultural environment and foster teamwork.
    • Ability to work with limited supervision and to take initiatives.

    Terms of Appointment

    This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position based at ILRI’s Nairobi campus. It is open to Kenyan nationals only. The position is on a fixed term contract for 1 year 8 months.

    Job Level

    This position is job level is HG11, and ILRI offers a competitive salary and benefits package which includes; pension, medical and other insurances for ILRI’s Nationally Recruited Staff.
