    Project Officer- SRH,Gender and Social Inclusion Advisor (DESIP

    Role overview

    VSO Kenya is recruiting two Project Officers to manage and implement the Deliver Equitable and Sustainable Inclusive Family Planning program (DESIP) programme in Kenya. The objective of the DESIP project is to increase more equitable and sustainable access to modern contraceptives in Kenya, specifically for up to 322,000 additional users, with a particular focus on adolescents, people with disabilities and poor rural women in Kenya. In line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to promote universal sexual and reproductive health and rights, the programme also seeks to contribute to a world in which every mother can enjoy a wanted and healthy pregnancy and childbirth, every child can survive beyond their fifth birthday, and every woman, child and adolescent can thrive to realize their full potential, resulting in enormous social, demographic and economic benefits. The programme is expected to ensure that women are able to safely plan their pregnancies and improve their sexual and reproductive health, particularly the young and marginalized.
    The purpose of this role will be to provide technical support to consortium members implementing inclusive strategies inclusion to increase access to Family Planning (FP) and sexual reproductive health (SRH) services for youth women and person with disabilities and other socially excluded groups.

    Skills, qualifications and experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree in Public Health or Social Sciences
    • At least 5 years experience in Family Planning and Sexual Reproductive Health, specifically for women and persons with disabilities.
    • Knowledge and experience on good practices on inclusion of people with disabilities in sexual and reproductive health and family planning programmes.
    • Extensive knowledge on policies and national guidelines that govern family planning and reproductive health
    • Experience advocating for inclusive services for family planning and sexual reproductive health.
    • Experience and knowledge on social inclusion and social accountability.
    • Possession of strong written and communication skills needed for writing reports, publicity materials and corresponding with a wide-range of community members.
    • Good facilitation skills
    • Sufficient experience in working with and managing volunteers
    • Able to develop clear and realistic plans to deliver agreed objectives within deadlines.
    • Experience and skills in managing budgets and undertaking accounting procedures.

    Project and M&E Assistant -Eriks 2

    Role overview

    The purpose of this role is to work in close collaboration with county governments, Education Actors, schools, parents, communities and volunteers to deliver Access to Quality Education and Transition for C&AWDs Project objectives.
    Skills, qualifications and experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Special Needs Education or inclusive Education
    • At least 2 years’ experience working in the field of both project management, finance or administrative experience in an NGO or community based organisation.
    • Evidence of knowledge and skills in M&E
    • Evidence of previous experience in implementing Disability project
    • Proven experience in coaching and mentoring of team members
    • Knowledge on gender and inclusion practices
    • Good written and spoken English and Kiswahili skills, Kenya Sign Language skills is an added
    • Ability to work effectively as a team member and with minimal supervision
    • Good written and oral communication.
    • Evidence of effective problem solving and organisational skills.
    • Evidence of professionalism and high integrity.
    • Evidence of openness to learning to improve own performance

    Project Officer Eriks 1

    Role overview

    The purpose of the post is to provide leadership and management in the implementation of Access to Quality Education and Transition for C&AWDs project and contribute in realization of IE programme’s team objectives; Providing staff and volunteers’ duty of care, strengthening partnerships and programme networks, effective delivery of IE signature programme strategy and improved documentation of proven practices and knowledge sharing

    Skills, qualifications and experience

    • Bachelor of Education degree with specialisation in Special Needs or inclusive education; further qualification in development, project management or related area would be an advantage.
    • At least 3 years relevant experience including the formulation, implementation and review of development strategies and effective project management
    • Experience in developing and implementing advocacy and campaign strategies
    • Experience working with children and youth with disabilities, and their families in education or livelihood initiatives or successful work with persons with disabilities.
    • Evidence of having managed Child protection and Safeguarding caseload DESIRED
    • Knowledge on disability rights and inclusion practices
    • Ability to work effectively as a team member and with minimal supervision
    • Excellent written and oral communication
    • Evidence of effective problem solving and organisational skills

    Monitoring, Evaluation and Communications Officer

    Job Details

    Leading and coordinating Communications, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Reporting, thus enabling VSO Kenya to be more visible externally and measure progress and impact of its Volunteering for Development (VfD) initiatives.

    Skills, qualifications and experience

    Essential

    • A Bachelor’s degree in communications, social sciences, development studies/economics, marketing or monitoring and evaluation.
    • A minimum of 4 years’ experience and progressive responsibility working in Communications, Reporting and M&E for donor funded development programmes e.g. DFID, USAID, EU, Ford Foundation; Open Society etc
    • Excellent communications and writing skills – able to express complex information in a simple and succinct manner in English and Swahili
    • Experience of developing performance indicators; conducting routine monitoring of data for donor-funded projects; and conducting participatory or impact evaluations.
    • Experience writing reports, findings and recommendations in assessment or evaluations, especially under institutional donor contracts, and
    • Experience of development of knowledge management and communication strategies.
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Strong proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) with ability to analyze and interpret data using Excel, MIS online reporting tools, or statistical packages such as SAS, SPSS, STATA. Or EPINFO
    • Ability to coordinate well with personnel within and outside the project, meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
    • Excellent relationship management skills and experience working with people in different contexts;
    • Self-starter with initiative and confidence to lead in their designated field – can work independently and prioritize own work load

    Desirable

    • Experience in a ‘Development’ context/INGOs
    • Experience working in education, health, livelihoods; governance or youth programmes
    • Being up-to-date on Communications; Reporting; M&E trends and current debates around development effectiveness; research and evaluation methodologies;
