    Project Officer

    Project Officer Job Key Responsibilities

    • Participate in development of annual and quarterly plans and budgets.
    • Participate in the development of local strategies to improve access of communities to services and information.
    • Prepare monthly budget for Kilifi County and present to the MNCH/RH/FP Advisor
    • Coordinate/facilitate all activities of local implementation partners supported by Afya Pwani in Kilifi County.
    • Prepare a monthly report of distributions given to target groups and project activities implemented.
    • Provide technical support for community level program planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation.
    • Facilitate linkages between communities and local health facilities in collaboration with the facility based team in respective district.
    • Work closely with CHVs to ensure pregnant women complete their 4th ANC visits; and promote skilled deliveries
    • Through community initiatives promote full immunization for children
    • Work with clinical team to ensure facilities supported by the Project have functional ORS corners
    • Support the HIV cluster teams to ensure that pregnant women know their HIV status
    • Closely work with the nutrition and WASH teams to promote better health and seeking behavior
    • In a structured way and on a quarterly basis conduct focus group discussions on quality improvement (QI)
    • Participate in maternal audits
    • Equip CHVs with appropriate information and knowledge on FP services
    • Liaise with local partners to strengthen their capacity to engage in a process of dialogue, negotiation and planning for improved health in Kilifi County.
    • Compile comprehensive and timely monthly, quarterly and (bi) annual reports submitted to the MNCH/RH/FP Advisor.
    • Regularly monitor field activities and performance of Local Implementing Partners.
    • Participate in AOP planning at community, facility, sub-county and county level and C/SCHMT progress meetings.
    • Mobilize communities through community units in support of government activities e.g. Immunization, Malezi bora etc.
    • Liaise with cluster team members for planning and progress review of activities.
    • Facilitating the documentation of best practices and lessons learnt in the project implementation.
    • Other duties as necessary and/or assigned by the supervisor.

    Basic Requirements for the Project Officer Job

    • Minimum Degree/Higher Diploma qualifications in social science, community development, public health or relevant diploma and/or experience managing community development programs with emphasis on HIV and home based care.
    • At least three years’ experience in hands on home based care programs.
    • Demonstrated experience managing budgets.
    • Training of Trainer skills.
    • Good community mobilization skills.
    • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, internet etc.
    • Ability to prioritize work according to importance and deadline while meeting conflicting work demands.
    • Possesses initiative, patience, tact, and able to work with minimum supervision and under pressure.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility in all aspects of working.
    • Previous work experience in health and development and strong skills in community programming
