    Supply Chain Manager - Tenders & Contracts

    Job Ref. MN 7143

    Job Profile - Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of tenders and contracting process, policies and procedures, and actively participate in the development of KenGen’s Supply Chain strategy and by extension the corporate strategy.
    • Determine the sequence of Tenders and Contract management activities, dependencies and definition of the desired outcomes. This includes the comprehensive Tender Secretariat Affairs Management.
    • Develop key best practices in Tenders and Contract management processes; Strategic tendering process, organize the post award conferences and development of Services Level Agreements (SLAs) that meet the KenGen’s risk management objectives.
    • Oversee Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) with suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure value for money is achieved in each functional process. Managing supplier information repository and e-procurement infrastructure.
    • Continuous review and approve the adequacy of tender and 10% 2 contract documents to adapt to the dynamic risk matrices consistent with the laid down statutory and organizational requirements.
    • Strategically implement relevant Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) legislations as prescribed from time to time which application of creative approaches as cited in the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015 (PPADA, 2015). Enforce compliance of PPADA, 2015 and related regulations including statutory reporting both statutory and administrative.

    Personal Profile - Qualifications

    • An undergraduate degree; B.A Economics, Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration, B.Sc Engineering, Procurement & Logistics
    • Good understanding of Supply Chain Management with bias in public sector and Multinational organizations shall be an added advantage.
    • A post-graduate diploma in Procurement/Supply Chain management where the first degree is not in the area of Supply Chain; and
    • Should be a full member registered with a professional procurement body such as the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) and / or be a Member of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM).
    • Minimum of 15 years experience in managing the supply chain in a large organisation; 5 of which should have been at senior management level of which must be post graduation experience. Ability to interact and manage internal organizational and statutory relationships; ability to negotiate with suppliers and contractors are essential. Knowledge of Tenders and Contracts Management is an added advantage
    • Proven track record of effective delivery in a supply chain role including developing and maintaining supplier relationships and negotiating on competitive prices on contracts, International Procurement and;
    • Demonstrable ability to drive KenGen’s value through strategic cost-effective procurement practices.
