    Field Officer - The Nia Project

    About the Field Officer Role

    The Field Officer role will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation and monitoring of The Nia Project interventions throughout the duration of the project. This role is a two-year renewable contract position. The role will be based at ZanaAfrica’s Kilifi office. Key responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Program Implementation. The Field Officer will collaborate with ZanaAfrica personnel as well as local implementing partners to ensure the successful implementation of The Nia Project interventions. Namely, the Field Officer will be responsible for ensuring regular and timely distribution of Nia Teen sanitary pads, underpants, and Nia Teen Magazine to 105 schools across Kilifi county while abiding by all implementation protocols. The Field Officer may also support community sensitization activities prior to project launch.

    • Program Monitoring. The Field Officer is responsible for abiding by program monitoring protocols associated with intervention implementation, including but not limited to using a mobile phone-based application to log product distributions and ensuring that all necessary data needed during product distributions is captured. In addition, the Field Officer will conduct regular field checks to ensure the successful implementation of the facilitated health education component of The Nia Project by ZanaAfrica’s implementing partner. Last, the Field Officer will support the implementation and data entry for any field-based research conducted by the project team including, for example, pre-testing of Nia Teen Magazine.

    Additional responsibilities associated with this role may include but are not limited to relationship management with ZanaAfrica’s implementing partners, administrative work to support the overall project and any other task assigned in consultation with the Program Manager.

    Required Qualifications:

    Applicants for the Field Officer role should exhibit the following qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in Public Health, Sociology, Anthropology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

    • Experience running interventions for randomized controlled trials is a plus.

    • Go-getter attitude with an unabashed commitment to doing whatever it takes to get a job

      done, on time, while motivating others to do the same.

    • Outstanding attention to detail and proactivity in carrying out work. Analytical and

      strategic approach to project management is a must.

    • Enthusiastic and collaborative team player.

    • Previous experience working in field teams in resource-limited environments.

    • Humility. We are a small, gritty team achieving big things. We check our egos at the door.

    • Fluency in English and Kiswahili. Fluency in Giriama is a plus. Excellent written and oral

      English communication skills.

    • Unbounded enthusiasm for realizing, and advocating for, girls’ sexual and reproductive

      health and rights.

    • Kenyan or East African candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
