Data Manager at Centre for Health Solutions - Kenya (CHS)

Overall Job Function

Responsible for providing technical support for developing a centralized computer-based record keeping/HMIS system to manage facility/patient information from CHS-supported facilities, as well as ensure high integrity of data all facility.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design, implement, installation and usage of the data management systems.
2. Ensure mentorship of CHS staff and facility staff on the use of the systems for efficient data collection and management.
3. Provide oversight for successful data management including support for computer application/database development that will ensure management, organisation, storage and easy access to information from care and treatment sites supported by CHS.
4. Support collection and aggregation of datasets, cleaning and data entry.
5. Track and manage the flow of facility level/patient and other data to and from CHS-supported facilities.
6. Ensure completeness, accuracy and consistency of the data so that it meets standards of quality expected for reporting.
7. Provide oversight in data quality audits according to SOPs.
8. Monitor the performance of the databases and suggest improvement of its tools and services effectiveness.

Person Specifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer studies, statistics, epidemiology or mathematics
• At least five years relevant experience and advance skills in Ms Access application development and programming skills; EpiInfo, SPSS; Data quality assurance; Ms Office
• Familiarity with database management system and principles
• Familiarity with data coding of SOP and coding dictionaries
• Excellent data management and computer programming skills using Visual Basic/SQL
• Working knowledge of DATIM and PEPFAR reporting systems
• Ability to work effectively in a busy, high pressure team environment
