• Lead the College to achieve its mission, goals and values, by developing and sharing an ambitious vision.
• Lead the strategic planning process in partnership with the Board of Directors and staff members, and develop and implement a plan of action.
• Develop strong, effective and harmonious working relationships with the Board.
• Lead the teaching staff, managing their performance against key targets and taking follow up action as necessary.
• Ensure that appropriate College policies and procedures are in place, applied and monitored, including those related to financial and staff management, health and safety, safeguarding, and equality and diversity.
• Ensure the College fulfills its legal, statutory and regulatory requirements from government, funding and regulatory bodies and from partners.
• Ensure the development and delivery of a highly practical and responsive curriculum which anticipates, stimulates and meets the changing demands of learners and the marketplace. Embed an ethos of learning for success, fostering high aspiration and ambition and promoting positive progression by learners at all levels.
• Be an outstanding ambassador for the College at all times and on all occasions. Negotiate relationships and partnerships with others that that benefit the College; engage and network and work with relevant decision makers at local, regional and national level.
• Lead and contribute to activities outside the College, including representing the College on external committees and bodies at local, regional or national level. Act as Chief Accounting Officer and ensure the timely and accurate preparation of estimates of budgets.
• Be accountable for the proper and effective operation of financial, planning and management controls such that physical and financial resources are efficiently utilized and value for money is achieved.
• Have in place robust and responsive ICT, data, information and management systems to inform and monitor the delivery of strategic, financial and operational plans which comply with statutory reporting requirements.
• Recruit, develop and guide staff, maximizing retention of high performers.
• Continually review income developing and brand building strategies to ensure sustainable growth and diversifying income sources, in line with the College’s mission and strategic direction.
• Lead and further develop an entrepreneurial and enterprising culture within the college. Develop innovative, cost efficient and impactful marketing and promotion events for the college.
• Business Degree or equivalent, with post graduate studies a plus
• Training in management/leadership
• The capacity to drive the development and roll out of a design-fashion label and design line
• Design training a definite advantage
• A background in education of definite interest
• At least 10 years’ working experience in an innovative and competitive environment
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in senior management, preferably in education, fashion or design
• Proven experience of strategy development and implementation
• A passion for fashion and design generally a definite requirement
