    Chief Surveyor

    (NLC GRADE 5) 

    An officer at this position is responsible for the administration of the Surveying, Remote Sensing and Mapping section.

    Gross Salary Scale for The position of Chief Land Surveyor (Min Kshs. 132,000 – Max Kshs.207,000)

    Duties for the Chief Surveyor Job

    • Supervise the Senior Surveyors on day to day activities.
    • Coordinate planning and implementation of survey activities in the County or at the projects.
    • Manage and keep custody of survey records, registers, maps and data.
    • Establish and maintain an automated information system for mapping data and land boundary records.
    • Update land adjudication progress chart of the county.
    • Investigate and resolve boundary disputes.
    • Assist in compilation of documents leading to the drawing up of the boundary plans, titles, leases and sub-leases issued by National Land Commission.
    • Monitor and evaluate land adjudication and settlement programmes especially survey component at the county level.
    • Supervise the administration of Group Ranches and maintenance of members’ registers and cause inspection of group accounts.
    • Provision of survey data during feasibility surveys.
    • Implement survey and mapping programmes and policies.
    • Identify survey requirements and standards for specific areas.

    Chief Surveyor Job Requirements

    For Appointment to this grade, a candidate must:

    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Surveying and Photogrammetry, Survey, Geographical Information Systems, Planning or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
    • Must have served in the grade of Senior Land Adjudication and Settlement Officer for at least six (6) years, three (3) of which must have been at a senior management level.
    • Associate member of the Institute of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK).
    • Supervisory Management Course.
    • Computer literacy.
    • Knowledge of relevant laws affecting the land sector.
    • Knowledge of land survey process.
    • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation skills and project management.
    • Knowledge of professional standards
