    Social and Behavior Change Manager

    Responsibilities

    • Work with the ACDI/VOCA Headquarters Social and Behavior Change Specialist to develop a project-wide social and behavior change strategy and coordinate with the project M&E team to put in place effective monitoring and evaluation indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies.
    • Support project objectives through SBCC strategy, especially related to agriculture, gender and youth inclusion messaging, value chains/market systems, and nutrition.
    • Conduct formative research to inform the social and behavior change communication strategy, including but not limited to barrier analysis, market segmentation, identification of existing messaging materials, identifying priority and influencing groups, etc.
    • Implement the Social and Behavior Change Communication strategy with project partners and stakeholders.
    • Provide guidance and support for project staff on how to implement social behavior change communication strategies. Train Community-based Champions to be role models for changing behaviors and social norms that restrict participation of identified groups (i.e. women).
    • Lead and train project team on how to conduct barrier analyses as a method for identifying behavior change-related messaging for the project.
    • Develop and supervise gender-sensitive messaging and training materials for project activities.
    • Contribute to the preparation of a yearly implementation plan - outlining the concrete actions to be taken by each strategic objective, with outputs and outcomes, related to SBCC.
    • Write success stories and reports on SBCC approaches or interventions and provide examples of successes, challenges, lessons learned and recommendations.
    • Collaborate with other projects, organizations, and institutions that are implementing similar SBCC-related activities in country.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in international development, behavioral economics, agronomy, sociology or other related field; Master’s degree preferred.
    • At least 8 years of practical and management experience in social and behavior change communication theory and techniques, preferably with knowledge of USAID’s SBC approach.
    • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing social and behavior change communications strategies.
    • Experience conducting barrier analyses preferred.
    • Technical knowledge in gender and development, particularly related to food security, agricultural value chains/market systems, and nutrition-integrated agriculture.
    • Experience with research methods and conducting field based assessments.
    • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
    • Fluency in English required.
