    Communication Specialist

    This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated communications professional to help Komaza improve the lives of small-scale farmers. The successful applicant will grow their skills by working on exciting communication initiatives with a dedicated, innovative team.

    Komaza is a forestry business that partners with small-scale farmers to plant commercial woodlots, providing a guaranteed market for the harvest. They unlock the potential for small-scale farmers to serve industrial wood markets by providing them with training, planting inputs, maintenance support and harvesting services. Through this unique “micro-forestry” model, Komaza is now Kenya’s largest commercial tree planter.

    Detailed Responsibilities:

    Communication Strategy & Design:

    • Identify and prioritize Komaza’s farmer communication needs. Subsequently define communication KPIs and deliverables.
    • Support and participate in the successful implementation of communication strategies
    • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure buy in to the strategy and investment in seeing its success

    Project Management:

    • Follow up on communication to measure impact and record insights to iterate future campaigns
    • Lead content creation either by supervising an external contractor or stepping in to create content when needed
    • Work with stakeholders to ensure delivery of communication initiatives within set timelines

    External Stakeholder Feedback:

    • Understand and engage with farmers and local opinion leaders such as chiefs and elders to get feedback on communication materials

    Does this sound like you?

    • Hold a Bachelor’s degree
    • 5 – 12 years’ professional experience
    • Fluent in spoken and written Kiswahili
    • A background in communication and branding a plus
    • Able to articulate ideas for wide range of audiences - internal management to farmers
    • Keen attention to detail
    • Willing and able to relocate to Kilifi
