The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) which was established in 1978 is the professional organization for Certified Public Accountants in Kenya.
ICPAK draws its mandate from the Accountants Act No. 15 of 2008 and has been dedicated to the development and regulation of the accountancy profession in Kenya to enhance its contribution and that of its members to national economic growth and development.
In its endeavour on institutional strengthening, ICPAK is seeking to recruit a dynamic, self-driven and results oriented individual to fit in a team that will propel it to a World Class Professional Accountancy Institute.
Job Summary: The Public Policy Analyst is responsible for positioning the Institute as an influential public interest leader in accountability and economic governance.
Responsibilities:
The Public Policy Analyst shall report to the Senior Manager, Public Policy and Governance and shall perform the following essential duties and responsibilities as stated here below:
(i) Holding consultative meetings with a view to fostering working relationships with identified institutions to add value to members.
(i) Developing position papers on matters of ICPAK’s expertise.
(ii) Representing the Institute in key national forums and events.
(iii) Developing opinion pieces in the local dailies on matters concerning ICPAK, public finance, accountability and the economy at large;
(iv) Develop and maintain close working relationships and dialogue with Parliament, Government Ministries and other Regulatory bodies with a view to enhancing the public interest role of the Institute.
3. Advise the office of the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury on Accountability and Governance within the Public Sector through;
(i) Developing memorandums on key governance, accountability and public finance issues in the country.
(ii) Arrange meetings with the National Treasury and its departments on matters affecting the Institute.
(i) Undertake review of money/Finance Bills and other relevant pieces of legislation.
(ii) Proactively develop Bills for consideration on core issues affecting accountancy profession and the economy at large.
(iii)Review for amendment of the relevant enacted pieces of legislation
(i) Proactively recruit members with the relevant expertise to represent the Institute in the County, national and International forums and organizations.
(i) Lobby for appointments of accountants in both the national and county governments.
(ii) Strengthen and build capacity of the institute branches to enable them support operational excellence at the county.
(iii)Undertake a base line survey on the level of county preparedness to effectively take up devolved functions.
