    Clinical Officer

    Reporting To:    Protection Program Manager in Liaison with Administration Manager

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responding to medical emergencies and offering first aid services

    • Perform thorough medical screening to all new asylum seekers accommodated in the transit center.
    • Referring medical matters for specialized care when appropriate
    • Follow up appointments for clients attending special clinics such as diabetic clinic, comprehensive care clinic, pediatric clinic
    • Provide health education and counselling to patients about their medical conditions, preventions and medications.
    • Record all medical emergencies and other incident reports at the center
    • Ensure that appropriate, accurate, and up-to-date written records and reports are kept and communications made to concerned parties
    • Custodian of the resources both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical at the transit centre.
    • Promote an environment, which maximizes client’s safety by utilizing infection control practices and patients’ safety programs 
    • Ensuring that clients information is maintained confidential
    • Undertake any other duties as may be required

    Job specifications

    • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery.
    • Must be a registered Clinical Officer with the Clinical Officers Council

    Skills & Competencies

    • At least 2 years of work experience as a clinical officer, former experience with humanitarian organizations is an added advantage
    • Qualified Clinical Officer with a sound knowledge of the management of outbreaks of common diseases
    • Good computer skills (Word, Excel).
    • Significant knowledge in conducting trainings and health talks.

    • Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili
    • Experience working in a refugee program is an added advantage

      Ability to work in a demanding and high pressured environment
