    Trade Finance & Financial Institutions Manager

    Job description

    JOB ROLE / MISSION

    Reporting to the Head of Enterprise (corporate Banking), this role will work closely with the following departments towards meeting clients trade finance needs:

    Business centre heads (corporate branches)

    Institutional banking head

    Retail Banking heads

    The job will involve growing the trade finance business of the Bank through existing and new clients, managing of relationships with international correspondent banks both on nostro arrangements and credit lines utilization and renewals, off balance sheet management and development of structured trade finance products.

    ACTIVITIES/ FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Strategic planning for trade finance business in line with banks annual and tri-annual business development plans including preparation of business plans with Finance department for management consumption.
    • Growth of trade finance business with existing clients (Guarantees, LCs, Bill avalization, supply chain financing, factoring) within budgets and strategic plans of the Bank, and in addition develop new clients in the line of trade finance.
    • Market and increase client awareness of trade products and services of the Bank
    • Training and capacity building on trade finance across the bank network
    • Grow portfolio of importers and exporters
    • Preparation and/or assisting in the preparation of business proposals and credit files on trade finance for credit approvals.
    • Customer interface on all trade related items including management of international settlements for corporate clients in liaison with the Treasury Department and other business development teams
    • Manage international relations with correspondent banks on nostro arrangements, credit line management and utilization, and enhancing relationships in accordance with business demands
    • Manage relationships with banks within the local banking industry including utilization of bank credit lines, enhancing lines as per business demands and keeping relationship cordial.
    • Managing relations with the Group subsidiaries and affiliates on international settlements and trade
    • Overall responsible for the growth and profitability of trade finance business in the Bank.

    KNOW HOW

    • Relationship management and client network development
    • Working with diverse teams across different departments
    • International business appreciation including rules, laws and procedures of international trade, e.g. UCP, URDG, Incoterms, AML/CFT, etc
    • Technical knowledge in trade finance with demonstrated working experience
    • Credit analysis and legalities of credit agreements and commercial contracts
    • Business plans and forecasts
    • Cash flow management and interpretation of financial information/data
    • Operational competencies relating to trade finance business (letters of credit, Swift, bills of lading, etc)
    • Appreciation of foreign exchange transactions and hedging techniques
    • Strong communicator; both oral and written

    QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

    • University degree in Finance, Accountancy, Economics or a relevant business related degree
    • MBA or relevant post graduate degree
    • Professional qualification in accountancy or related field.
    • At least 7 years working experience in banking, of which at least 4 years should have been in trade finance
    • Strong track record in business development and business networking which should be clearly demonstrated
