    Assistant Research Scientist (Aquaculture Engineering)

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Designing and interpreting scheme and drawings of practical efficient multidisciplinary aquaculture systems such as recirculatory aquaculture system, flow through system, off-shore fish cages and aquaculture waste treatment e.t.c. 
    • Analyzing and evaluating the performance of the aquaculture systems.
    • Supervising and monitoring aquaculture structural projects during construction and installations of related equipment.
    • Establishing structural engineering standards for different aquaculture systems
    • Developing maintenance plan for aquaculture systems
    • Arranging for testing of materials
    • Coordinating project documentation
    • Compiling routine site reports
    • Providing of engineering advisory services
    • Participating in undertaking aquaculture research and preparing technical report
    • Any other duties in the area of specialization as assigned by the supervisor from time to time

    Minimum Qualification

    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C+ or equivalent;
    • BSc Degree Second Class Honors (upper division) in Civil Engineering (Structural) from a recognized university.
    • Must be computer literate
    • Experience in aquaculture hatchery design and/or construction will be an added advantage
