County Director - Transport And Safety/. Roads at County Public Service Board of Bungoma

The director will be answerable to the Chief Officer Roads, Infrastructure & Public Works for the following duties;

Duties and responsibilities

• Plan, design, supervision of construction, contracts, materials investigation and research related to buildings and other structures like swimming pools;
• Direction, control, and supervision of maintenance of various structures;
• Coordination of policy formulation;
• Ensuring efficiency of design and contract drawings;
• Implementation of specific and quality control;
• Formulation of design standards and procedures;
• Development of research on materials in building, civil and marine works technology;
• Coordination, design, documentation, maintenance, research and supervision of public buildings and civil and other engineering works;
• Research activities, administration, financial and supervision of staff;
• Coordination of the review and updating of policies, systems and procedures for design and installation of mechanical and fire services;
• Formulation and review of general policies on procurement of spare parts to ensure efficiency in the repair and maintenance of all equipment and plant;
• Carry out quality assurance of fire and mechanical services;
• Coordinate the evaluation and monitoring adherence and compliance with the set commitments and indicators in the departmental performance contracts;

• Overall planning, controlling and coordination of mechanical and fire engineering services, designs, installation and maintenance.

Requirements the for Appointment For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

• Relevant working experience of not less than ten (10) years, three (3) years of which at the grade of Chief Superintending Engineer (structural) Job Group "P" and above or comparable and relevant position in the public service or private sector;
• A Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering fields from a recognized Institution;
• A Master's degree in relevant Engineering fields from a recognized Institution;
• Be registered with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) or Board of Registration Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS);
• Be in possession of a current valid annual practicing license from the Engineers Board of Kenya;
• Corporate membership with Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK);
• Attended Strategic Leadership Development Course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and administrative capability required for effective planning, direction, control and coordination of structure, civil engineering development and implementation of mechanical building and
• Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 on leadership and integrity. Terms of Service: - Permanent and pensionable
