DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE & ECONOMIC PLANNING

COUNTY DIRECTOR STATISTICS JOB GROUP "R"

Duties and responsibilities:-Will be head of county statistics department and will be responsible to the Chief Office, Finance and Economic Planning for the formulation and coordination of the statistics policies, strategies and programmes.

Specific duties will include:

• Day-to-day management of the county statistics including managing its funds and property;
• Administration and management of the staff;
• Planning, authorizing, coordinating and supervising all official statistical programmes undertaken within the county statistical system;
• Establish standards and promoting the use of best practices and methods in the production and dissemination of statistical information across the national statistical system;
• Collecting, compiling, analyzing, abstracting and disseminating statistical information on the matters specified in the first schedule of the statistics Act Cap 112 and f) Maintaining comprehensive and reliable county socio-economic database.

Requirements for the Director Statistics

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

• Served for a cumulative period of ten (10) years relevant experience, three (3) of which as Principal Economist/Principal Statistician Job Group "P" and above or in a comparable position in the public Service or private;
• Bachelors Degree in any of the following; Economics, Statistics, Demography, Computer Science, Mathematics & Statistics;
• Masters of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MSC) or Master of Philosophy (MPHI) in Economics, Statistics, Demography, Computer Science, Mathematics & Statistics;
• Demonstrated outstanding professional competence and wide experience in Sectoral Policy formulation and implementation matched with clear appreciation of the Kenya's Economics needs at the county, sectoral and sub-county level and
• Demonstrated a high degree of administrative ability and leadership.

Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
