    Manager - International Taxation

    Grade: KRA 6

    Department: Strategy Innovation & Risk Management (S.I.R.M)

    Division: International Taxation and Customs

    Supervisor: Chief Manager, International Taxation and Customs

    Supervisee: Assistant Manager, Treaties & International Relations Team

    Job summary:

    Participate in Tax Treaty negotiations and International Trade forums and prepare technical briefs.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Provide technical guidance in Treaty Negotiations in liaison with respective Line Departments.
    • Provide technical leadership in development of appropriate Tax treaty model.
    • Provide necessary strategic and innovative guidance to both internal and external stakeholders on Treaty Interpretation.
    • Articulate KRA position and role of various Agencies in Trade Facilitation.
    • Monitors, studies and analyses the trends and best practices in international taxation matters and prepares advisory notes;
    • Attend to any other assignment related to these duties.

    Academic and Professional qualifications

    • University Degree, at least Upper 2nd Class Hons, in a relevant field like Finance, Economics, International Relations or Law.
    • Master’s Degree in any of the above fields will be an added advantage.

    Relevant work experience required

    • Skills and Experience of not less than 3 years in Treaty negotiations, international trade matters or any other relevant field.
    • Sound background in tax administration.
    • Training on international transactions, investment and trade facilitation as well as good negotiation skills will be an added advantage.
    • A good understanding of cross border transactions and schemes and how they affect taxes

    Skills required

    • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
    • Ability to function independently and on own initiative.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication skills
    • Good team player with high integrity.
    • Team Player, Focused and result oriented.
    • Ability to multi-task.
    • Ability to network effectively within and outside KRA
    • Computer Literacy.
