Chair, Department Of Population Health at Aga Khan University (AKU)

Responsibilities

The Medical College is establishing a new Department of Population Health and is searching for an outstanding individual who can provide strategic leadership in building a department that brings together the scholarly and methodological expertise of public health, epidemiology and health services to advance and support education, research and service related to the biological, cultural and socio-economic determinants of health with focus on the regions of East Africa. While housed in the Medical College, the department will provide educational programmes, methodology support, and research collaboration in health sciences across the Nairobi and Dar es Salaam campuses of the Medical College and linking to the AKU Karachi campus and in association with the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) and other Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) agencies. As the Foundation Chair, the incumbent will provide the strategic leadership to advance knowledge and application of population health that will ensure the AKU principles of quality, access, relevance and impact are met in the education, research, and service programmes that are developed.

Requirements

• The successful applicant will be at the level of Associate Professor or Professor, have strong evidence of leadership in the field, with a PhD and excellent track record in grant support and publication.
• Individual with a professional degree and sustained record of research and leadership will also be considered.
