Senior Designer at Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB)

JOB LEVEL 5 (PUBLISHING DEPARTMENT): JOB REF HR SD-8-2018

Reports to: Assistant Publishing Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conceptualise, plan and execute all forms of graphic design assignments;
• Develop book cover/layout designs to print ready artworks;
• Effect textual corrections of graphic design assignments as directed by project managers/editors;
• Generate line illustrations;
• Develop internal promotional graphic design projects (banners, posters, flyers, brochures, etc.);
• Digitize text and illustrations from hard copy files;
• Develop e-content /digital content files from print ready book files for uploading to appropriate e-platforms.
• Prepare digital content files from print ready book files;
• Co-ordinate photography assignments as per project briefs; and
• Execute regular back up of all design assignments.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Art and Design/Fine Art or Graphic Design Option.
• Masters of Business Administration or a relevant field is an added advantage.
• Higher National Diploma or Diploma in Art and Design/Fine Art or a relevant field from a recognized body.
• Minimum seven (7) years of relevant work experience with at least three (3) years at a senior management/leadership position.
• Problem solving, decision making, integrity, good communication, organisation and planning skills.
• A good team player, maintains high work standards, reliable, easily adapts to new environments and self-motivated.
