    Mental Health & Psychiatry Nurse

    Requirements

    • Be a Kenyan Citizen;
    • Higher National Diploma in Mental Health and Psychiatry Nursing;
    • Diploma in Nursing
    • Be registered with nursing Council of Kenya;
    • Valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya;
    • Certificate in Computer application skills from a recognized institution;

    Job Responsibilities

    • Assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, monitoring mental health, psychiatric nursing interventions, evaluating patients /clients outcomes and progress;
    • Providing health education, psychotherapies services to individual , groups and families, cognitive behavior therapies, rehabilitation therapies, prescribing and supervising medication s schedules and conducting general physical examinations;
    • Compiling and maintaining records on patients / client health condition and care;
    • Providing and coordinating counseling to patients/clients, family and community on identified health needs to ensure health seeking and health promoting behavior;
    • Liaising with other interdisciplinary professional to determine and provide the best health care for the patients/ clients;
    • Facilitating patient’s admission, initiating discharge plans and referral appropriately;
    • Ensuring tidy and safe clinical environment;
    • Conducting nursing teaching and assessment of nursing staff and students, using evidence based practices;
    • Preparing individual reports;
    • Planning, implementing interventions, preparing periodic reports, conducting occupational health needs assessment and making appropriate recommendations and managing a health service delivery unit;
    • Ensuring effective utilization and safety of assigned medical supplies and equipment;
    • Caring for patients at health delivery unit using the nursing process;
    • Implementing recommendations of research finding for improvement of nursing care service;
    • Organizing, coordinating and conducting integrated outreach programmes.

    • Any other relevant supporting documents.
