    Community Development Facilitator Laisamis

    • Six (6) Months Fixed Term Renewable Contract Subject to Availability of Funds and Performance

    Job Summary:

    To develop capacity of communities for empowerment, self-driven development and to influence decision making at the governance structure through citizen participation using Community Conversations (CCs) approach

    Main Duties & Responsibilities:

    • The main responsibility is to support facilitation and coordination of community dialogues. Specific duties are to:
    • Support Community Facilitators (CFs) to mobilize communities through CCs and community organized groups
    • Facilitate community dialogues together with the CFs
    • Conduct trainings, skills reinforcements and technical mentorship to CFs
    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to CFs in facilitation of productive dialogues
    • Support CCs and community organized groups to develop and implement community action plans
    • Work with CFs to support communities document action plans by sector
    • Together with the CFs follow up the implementation of community action plans
    • Support communities to develop, submit and follow up on petitions
    • Guide and support communities to file complaints and provide feedback to government and other stakeholders
    • Work with the Ward Administrators to facilitate communities to develop and submit village and Ward development plans in County planning and budget processes
    • Link communities to mapped stakeholders and work with the stakeholders to address community development issues
    • Support communities to organize stakeholders forums at the village and ward level
    • Conduct Community Conversations monitoring for quality assurance

    Job Specification:

    • A diploma in community development, social sciences or any other relevant field
    • At least two (2) years’ experience in implementing community projects
    • Experience in community mobilization and engagement using participatory approaches in ASAL context
    • Experience in Community Conversations approach is an added advantage
    • Must be a resident in Illeret ward
    • Must have a valid motorbike riding license
    • Must have a working knowledge of Project Cycle Management
    • Strong written and oral communication and leadership skills
    • Be able to work independently and as well as in a team
    • Be willing to accept responsibility and to show good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness
    • Fluency in English, Kiswahili and any of the local languages
