    Tax Customs - Senior Associate

    Job description

    About the job:-

    As a Senior Associate, you will work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve complex business issues. This role requires you to develop specialized tax expertise in Indirect Taxes - Customs and act as a key resource on complex tax technical matters.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Contribute to the development of new methodologies or approaches to address emerging Tax issues for our clients.
    • Assist clients by identifying issues they may not recognize and recommend solutions tailored to their strategic and commercial objectives whilst considering the regulatory environment.
    • Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients.
    • Manage existing client portfolios and maintain sound client relationships.
    • Leverages on internal and external networks to enhance firm’s connectivity, performance and profitability opportunities.
    • Ensure that financial targets of self and team are achieved.
    • Provide written technical opinions or reports for clients.
    • Train, coach, and supervise team members.
    • Conduct Customs training for clients as and when required.
    • Keep up to date with changes in Customs legislation in the East Africa region.
    • Keep up to date with local and international business and economic issues.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university
    • Applicants with Customs or tax qualification will have an added advantage
    • Over five years of relevant experience in the field of Customs and International Trade preferably in a tax authority or tax advisory firm
    • In-depth knowledge of the customs legislative framework in the East African Community
    • In-depth knowledge of the local customs regulations, policies and practices in the East Africa region
    • Working knowledge of Customs and international trade regulations within the context of World Customs Organization (WCO) and World Trade Organization (WTO)
    • Excellent analytical skills and commercial expertise are required for you to succeed in this role
    • You must also demonstrate the ability to communicate with impact, have excellent business development and negotiation skills
    • You must have good leadership skills, be an effective team player, excellent management skills and good project management skills.
