This is a long-term position based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Responsibilities:
- Work with USAID staff on professional development (i.e., presentations, public speaking, technical team management, and team building)and its implementing partners to create a learning and knowledge management agenda
- Facilitate use of collaboration, adaptation, and learning tools by USAID staff and implementing partners
- Coordinate knowledge capturing, sharing, and strategic learning to speed performance-based adaptations and bring new innovations to the Mission’s programmatic work in country
- Provide support to USAID/East Africa in developing a learning plan to create, capture, organize, translate, share, and apply knowledge to improve USAID/East Africa’s programs
- Work with USAID and its implementing partners to create a learning and knowledge management agenda
- Facilitate organization and delivery of learning events to share USAID/East Africa portfolio lessons learned and best practices
- Support identification of USAID best practices in an accessible format for other organizations and institutions
- Facilitate capacity building assessments of USAID implementing partners and stakeholders, and develop capacity development plans
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline is preferred;
- At least six years of experience with communications and/or knowledge management in the international development sector;
- Familiarity with USAID’s objectives, approaches and operations, particularly as they relate to capacity building
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with local professionals, international donor organizations, civil society and private sector, host country government counterparts, and other implementing partners in developing countries;
- Experience designing and delivering learning events
- Experience managing and supervising staff
- Experience with facilitating meetings
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with local professionals and implementing partners in developing countries;
- Strong proficiency in written and spoken English
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated evidence of effective team leadership
