Quality Engineer at Jumo World

Job description

We are motivated by an ambitious purpose and inspired by the exceptional people that we work with and we are looking for an Quality Engineer to join our Quality team. This position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and will report to the Head of Quality.

Job Purpose

We’re looking for someone who will perform testing, as well as advocate for quality within our engineering teams, in order to help deliver our next generation financial services platform.

Capabilities

• Able to work in a fast paced agile environment including working with remote teams
• Ability to gather requirements from whatever sources are available
• Ability to define testing scope, identifying what to cover and coming up with appropriate test ideas, using a variety of techniques
• Ability to plan and arrange testing logistics with the various teams – Test environment setup, data setup, application resources (Devs, Sysdev)
• Ability to work through problems with the teams so that these are resolved in good time with calmness, thoroughness, ability to question and justify where appropriate, building solid relationships
• Escalating and communicating issues factually and appropriately in order to get the right level of focus on blocking and important issues and bugs
• A wide knowledge of tools and ability to design tools as required (ability to write tools as needed a bonus)
• A keen understanding of testability
• The ability to manage many threads of work at once
• Domain experience in mobile apps would be a bonus

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to, advocate for and help improve our overall approach to quality.
• Advocate for, review and/or develop test plans, strategies and test ideas for new features, production changes and bug fixes, including regression testing.
• Manage, report on and perform exploratory testing, also assisting software developers and Product Owners with testing.
• Identify opportunities for automation and automate where appropriate and possible.
• Design and maintain relevant test data for the various services and applications.
