    Data Analyst

    Role Description

    BroadReach is profoundly focused on improving the health and well-being of underserved populations across the globe.     Purpose of the position

    A (USAID/AFR) – BAA role for Sustainable Development in Africa project to improve health outcomes in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) by disrupting current models of healthcare, changing how and why data/information is collected, analyzed and then used to achieve results. In this role, you will support the Regional Action Through Data (RAD) project as they build regional information platforms for two regional economic communities: The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS).

    Key Accountabilities (included but not limited to)

    In your role as Data Analyst you will:

    • Be responsible for collating, cleaning and evaluating data sets in order to achieve program objectives.
    • Identify publicly available data sources for the population of regional data warehouses.
    • Use standardized indicator definitions to classify, organize, and integrate disparate data sets.
    • Support program impact measurement and monitoring and evaluation efforts.
    • Produce disease-specific research reports for distribution among key stakeholders.
    • Assist in the organization of and data modeling for regional data warehouses.

    Essential qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Data Management, Informatics, Global/Public Health Informatics or another related field.

    Desirable qualifications

    •  Master’s degree in similar areas is highly preferred

    Experience & Skills

    • Min 2-5 years’ work experience in an Analyst or Informatics role in East Africa, experience in Public Health a plus
    • You must be fluent in English
    • Numerical reasoning
    • Experience in healthcare industry, specifically working with MoH management teams.
    • Healthcare data system experience, e.g. DHIS
    • Experience with BI tools, database management and data pipeline management
    • Experience supporting multiple work teams
    • Ability to work with large data sets and develop processes that extrapolate the data in an efficient manner
    • Ability to analyse and synthesize diverse information into manageable pieces
    • Advanced MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
    • English is the spoken and written language. Fluency in English and French is required for this position.
