    Lecturer / Tutorial Fellow in Maternal and Child Health

    Reporting To: Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs

    Job Description

    The holder of the job will lead (participate in) the curriculum development and delivery in Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health.

    Further, the holder will develop, fundraise and implement research and extension activities in the area.

    Main Duties and Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinate (participate in) the development of curricular in Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health
    • Lead (participate in) accreditation and implementation of courses as per CUE guidelines
    • Teach and supervise students
    • Coordinate practicum
    • Develop and carry out research studies
    • Form and manage partnerships for advancing Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health
    • Develop and apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students.
    • Mobilize resources to ensure sustainability of courses in Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health

    Academic Requirements

    • An earned PhD (ongoing PhD candidate) in Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health or related field from a recognized university
    • At least three (3) years teaching experience in a recognized university or similar relevant research/industry experience for the position of Lecturer.
    • At least Twenty four (24) publication points for the position of lecturer.
    • Registered with relevant professional body

    Experience

    • At least 3 years teaching experience in a recognized university level or similar relevant research/industry experience.
    • Curriculum development and delivery
    • Knowledge of CUE and regulator requirements
    • Knowledge and experience in academic or industry settings
    • Managing clients in area of expertise
    • At least two years’ work experience in a clinical setting
    • Experience in clinical instruction of nursing/midwifery students

    • Knowledge, skills and attitude of an ethical MNCH practitioner
    • Excellent academic writing and language skills
    • Professional student-centric approach to learning
    • ODEL methodologies of curriculum delivery
    • Commitment to quality, teaching, assessment and research.

    • Leadership capabilities
    • A strategic and critical thinker with ability to generate and grow new ideas
    • Computer proficiency
