    Project Coordinator

    REPORTS TO: Associate Program Director (APD), Kenya

    DIRECT REPORTS: None

    BASED IN: Bungoma County

    CLASSIFICATION: Full Time Employee

    Project Description

    HealthRight intends to roll out an adolescent mental health project in Bungoma County. The goal of the project is to reduce the risk of IPV among adolescents (ages 13-24) in 2 sub-Counties. Primarily, the objective is to pilot a Personalized Digital Relationship Self-Assessment and Awareness Toolkit for rural adolescents and young adults. The project will entail developing individual- and system-level approaches to address community norms and facilitate behavioural change related to intimate partner violence (IPV) among at-risk adolescents. This position will work closely with the project’s Principal Investigators.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Responsible for high quality management and delivery of all project cycle activities in the following areas:

    • Project Implementation
      • Coordinate the design, implementation and evaluation of the adolescent digital relationship toolkit in collaboration with the Principal Investigators from University of Nairobi and New York University, School of Medicine
      • Facilitate trainings on the digital toolkit with key stakeholders and coordinate data collection with M&E Officer.
      • With support from HealthRight country and HQ program and technical leadership teams, ensure efficient roll out of interpersonal psychotherapy group (IPT-G) for target beneficiaries.
      • Ensure project compliance with donor approved plans, strategies, targets and budgets.
    • Monitoring and Evaluation
      • Prepare periodic progress reports, showing achievements against planned targets, as well as providing justification for performance variances, in coordination with the M&E Officer.
      • Facilitate Quarterly Data Quality Audits in coordination with the M&E Officer.
      • Support overall digital & integrated health service methodology, analysis and evaluation.
      • Ensure that project experiences are routinely documented and support proper data collection and analysis in coordination with the M&E Officer.
      • Produce comprehensive, timely, and accurate project reports in strict adherence to HealthRight and donor reporting requirements, in coordination with the M&E Officer.
    • Finance and Grants Management
      • Operationalize project budgets and grants monitoring tools to ensure adequate controls for efficient funds utilizations in line with HealthRight Finance Policies.
      • Ensure value for money and the highest standards of integrity and accountability in the utilization of donor and HealthRight financial and other resources devoted allocated to this project.
    • Partnership Management and Collaboration
      • Strengthen collaborative partnerships and networks with stakeholders, including local youth groups and government to ensure proper implementation of the project.
      • Establish a Governmental-Academic-CBO partnership engagement model for IPV prevention and response in 2 sub-Counties of Bungoma County.
      • Facilitate strong beneficiary, community, and local government participation and ownership in all spheres of project implementation in order to secure greater project impact and sustainability
    • Supervision
      • Assist in clinical supervision of health workers and volunteers involved in delivering the intervention.

    Minimum Qualifications and experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or equivalent health science qualifications such as epidemiology, nursing, environmental health or a related field.
    • Clinical experience in Adolescent Mental Health programming highly desired.
    • At least three to five (3-5) years experience in planning, implementing and evaluating adolescent health programs required, preferably in the NGO sector.

    Required Skills:

    • Proven track record in project cycle management and implementing health projects at community level with strong involvement of beneficiaries, local governments, and other primary project stakeholders. Familiarity with Bungoma County preferred.
    • Highly organized with the ability to keep an eye on the detail while still paying attending to the bigger picture in project cycle implementation.
    • A proven team player with the ability to function independently, while still remaining effective in a matrixed team management structure and a multiple stakeholder coordination.
    • Highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in the stewardship of donor and organizational budgets and other project resources, including a successful record of managing tight project deadlines to meet donor and organizational priorities.
    • Ability to objectively and effectively represent an organization to its beneficiaries, local governments, and other primary stakeholders.
    • A working knowledge of the role digital technology innovations in community-driven health development.
    • A self-starter with the ability to think outside the box and intuition for cutting-edge innovation.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Kiswahili and English.
