Accountant (Construction & Engineering) at Summit Recruitment and Search

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records, general ledgers, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and payment processing.
• Support budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial planning.
• Undertake project costing, contract cost analysis, and monitoring of project expenditures.
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan statutory and tax obligations, including PAYE, VAT, WHT, NSSF, and SHA.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure proper documentation of financial transactions.
• Strengthen internal controls, financial procedures, and reporting systems.
• Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support management decision-making.
• Maintain accounting systems and ensure accurate and timely financial data.
• Collaborate with project managers, procurement, operations, and management teams to ensure effective financial management.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA(K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification, preferably at an advanced stage.
• 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, project accounting, contract costing, and financial controls.
• Good understanding of Kenyan tax laws, statutory compliance, and proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail, integrity, and ability to meet deadlines.
