    Accounting and Administrative Intern - Paid Internship

    • We are seeking an outstanding intern to support GoBEBA’s accounting and financial operations. You will work in a startup environment where every day brings unique new challenges and opportunities. This role will report directly to the founders. You must love bean counting with all your heart and be of high aptitude and integrity.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • This role requires you to wear several hats, in which you will allocate your time to different responsibilities.

    Accounting & Finance (70%)

    • Manage all expenses including petty cash accounts, ensuring proper filing and documentation.
    • Timely preparation of payments for approval e.supplier payments, payroll, reimbursements, office bills, etc.
    • Inventory reconciliations.
    • Reconciliation of customer payments and orders processed.
    • Prepare financial statements and monthly budget.
    • Tax filing e.VAT, PAYE, etc.
    • Timely invoicing and billing.
    • Reconciliation of M-Pesa and bank payments.
    • Develop spreadsheet templates for repetitive tasks to improve productivity.
    • Maintain proper records of any accounting and financial-related information.
    • Attend to and document all issues raised on the finance desk and prepare a report on issues identified, resolved, and escalated.

    Office Administration (20%)

    • Manage office service providers and purchase requisite supplies.
    • Provide support to ensure customer and supplier queries are addressed efficiently.
    • Set up and arrange meetings, facilities, and accommodations as required.
    • Maintain files, materials, information, schedules, and related data.
    • Assist in receiving letters and other documents and dispatching them to relevant offices.
    • Assist with the preparation of ad hoc and other internal reports.
    • Support staff on admin and operational issues.
    • Other (10%)
    • Support Customer Success operations to ensure that customers experience excellent services.
    • Ensure that order data is properly captured to enable proper accounting reconciliation

    YOUR PROFILE

    • You have an excellent track record of academic and professional achievements. You are thorough in your work with high precision to details. You love numeracy, and also a keen interest in mobile and internet economies. Independence, flexibility, and speed are as important to you as gaining professional venture-building experiencHigh drive and ability to achieve goals in a fast-paced environment.
    • High-aptitude, top-of-class graduate in Accounting, Math, Economics, or any quantitative course is a must.
    • CPA or ACCA - Advanced level required.
    • Overall, you must have a deep love for bookkeeping, accounting, and problem-solving.
    • At least 3 months of experience in some level of accounting or finance activities.
    • Advanced knowledge of Excel; can work with formulas and create templates for repetitive tasks.
    • Data-driven, speedy execution, and accuracy with unwavering attention to detail.
    • Must have impeccable integrity, be absolutely honest, and uphold the highest ethical standards.
    • A self-driven individual with the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
    • A highly organized individual who is deadline driven.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Familiarity with accounting software such as Zoho Books is a plus
