Accounts Receivable Associate at Topup Mama

About the role 

We have hundreds of customers that we deliver to every month, and most of them have credit terms with us. To be able to power our operations, we need to ensure that we get all our payments in on time, while building a strong relationship with our customers - that’s where you come in! As Accounts Receivable Associate, you are responsible for both the backend work of AR, as well as the customer-facing aspects of it. 

Key responsibilities are:

• Take full ownership of tracking Accounts Receivable per customer, and sending out invoices, statements, and reminders on time
• Build relationships with the finance departments of our customers - understand their payment cycles and adjust our terms to that where possible
• Hit targets for on-time payments, working with the sales team to manage the customers
• Manage all delinquent and defaulting customers in a professional manner that’s in line with company standards, and with minimal oversight 
• Design & implement a lean & fast process from account opening, to reference checks, to credit agreement, together with the sales team 
• Take on the back-end work of Accounts Receivable, such as reconciling payments, issuing credit notes, posting in our bookkeeping system
• Take proactive steps in further improving the AR process in terms of customer experience, efficiency and effectiveness, and work across the sales, supply chain and tech teams to achieve this

Who you are 

We are looking for someone with a very good feel for financials and eye for detail, but who can at the same time manage customers in a professional and pleasant manner. This is a very customer-facing role. We are looking for someone who has:

• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (written & verbal), who can work directly with finance departments of our customers
• Attention for detail and an eye for accuracy, especially when it comes to repetitive tasks
• Ability to deal with stressful situations and work well (and with consistent quality) under pressure and strict deadlines
• Ability to manage a lot of small admin tasks, while prioritising the most important ones and not losing sight of the others
• Strong team-player skills, to be able to integrate into both the sales and the finance departments
• Accounting skills & certificates
