    Adjunct Faculty – Lecturer in Pharmacology.

    Job Summary

    The successful candidate will report to the Dean, School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The incumbent will be expected to teach Pharmacology and related subjects, including General Pharmacology, Systemic Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacotherapeutics, Toxicology, and Experimental Pharmacology.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Teach and assess Pharmacology courses in the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme or Bachelor of Nursing.
    • Deliver laboratory and practical sessions in experimental pharmacology, pharmacological screening, and basic toxicological evaluations.
    • Develop and update course materials, laboratory manuals, and digital learning resources.
    • Participate in curriculum development, academic programme review, and accreditation activities.
    • Mentor students in their academic, professional, and research development.
    • Supervise undergraduate research projects where applicable.
    • Engage in collaborative research, scholarly activities, and grant proposal development.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean.

    Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience

    • A Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.), Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, from a recognized/accredited institution.
    • A Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm.), Master’s degree in Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related field from a recognized/accredited university.
    • A PhD in Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline will be a distinct advantage.
    • At least three (3) years of university teaching experience in Pharmacology or related areas.
    • Registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable (e.g., Pharmacy and Poisons Board).

    Personal Attributes & Competencies

    • Strong background in pharmacology, pharmacotherapeutics, and drug mechanisms of action.
    • Practical experience in experimental pharmacology, pharmacological screening, and laboratory animal handling, where applicable.
    • Knowledge of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, toxicology, and adverse drug reactions.
    • Familiarity with modern pharmacological research techniques and data analysis software.
    • Ability to integrate technology-enhanced learning methods into teaching.
    • Demonstrated research productivity and grant-writing capability.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Strong mentoring, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
    • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
