    AFFORD Assessment Lead and Technical Advisor, Global Technical Services

    About the role:

    The USAID AFFORD Policy Enabling Environment Technical Advisorwill be responsible for leading on-the-ground efforts to ensure a strong "policy enabling environment". This will include first and foremost assessing what information is already available in country and then leading in-country situation assessments / landscape analyses, as necessary, inclusive of: assessing existing fortification policy, legislation, standards, and monitoring structures; identifying their gaps; identifying where there is interest and opportunity across policy elements to leverage innovative approaches to increase program efficiency, reach, and impact; and mapping a way forward.

    This position may include identifying and managing local consultants to support these assessments, where necessary. The position will contribute to the design, delivery, and review of national-level policy enabling environment plans, approaches, and tools, as relevant, and ensuring their quality, practicality, scalability, and technical relevance and accuracy. Finally, this role will require leading coordination with other AFFORD IR personnel and activities within to ensure synergies, effective collaboration, technically sound and robust assessments and recommendations, and reduce redundancies.

    About you

    • You will have a Master’s degree or higher level with a focus on nutrition, foods and nutrition systems and /or health sciences or other related fields. At least 8 years of experience working in-country and / or regionally around the design and implementation of LSFF programs. At least 3 years of experience in project management.
    • Experience working across and within sectors as a means of optimizing program performance. Experience working with large multi-stakeholder teams and ability to participate in and coordinate across them
