Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Aga Khan University (AKU)

Responsibilities

The incumbent will:

• Manage in-patients and out-patients including daily ward rounds and provide on-call services as required.
• Participate in the cath lab and ambulatory services according to privileges.
• Educate parents on informed consent, choice of attending physician and right to seek second opinion.
• Teach and supervise fellows, residents, SHOs and other clinical staff
• Participate in the review and development of appropriate policies and procedures for patients’ healthcare
• Participate in case writing and research within the unit.

Requirements

• Must have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) or equivalent
• Must have MMED in Internal Medicine or its equivalent
• Must have completed a fellowship in Cardiology or equivalent
• Should have at least 4 years’ experience in cardiology (three of which may be during a recognized fellowship and one should be post fellowship)
• Should be registered by KMPDC as a specialist
• Must have valid Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (BLS &ACLS)
• Should demonstrate competency and dexterity with all equipment utilized in the hospital environment.
